I'd like to see a VR6 Fabia, tempted myself! Complete sleeper until you floor it!

the VR6 engine is such an old thirsty unit, it should be left on the scrapheap where it belongs.

1.8 20vt are nice and flexible with plenty of tuning potenial but maybe a little boring as everyone does the 1.8t conversion nowadays

why not try a non-vag engine,

plenty of 200bhp civic and accord type r engines about for under £1000 nowadays, or the 2zz-ge toyota 1.8ltr that revs to nearly 8000rpm and generates 190-210bhp depending on ecu setup, and they can be had with 6spd gewarbox for £1800-2000(it's the engine Lotus now use in there elise and exige) both the above engines are real screamers, can be had fairly cheaply considering the age of the engines and most importantly they both have good reputaions for reliability.

no need to worry bout turbos either

but it we have to stick to VAG engines then surely then 4.2 V8 out of an S4 should be interesting in a FWD and can be had for 2k

VR6 is thirsty but its a very solid, torquey engine with a sweet sound!

vr6 is very tempting, came in many variations, what about the v5 is that a good engine heard alot about them?

haha type r engine would be hilarious

what do you mean by

"...getting FSi running in a non FSi car could be tricky, especially with the can network issues etc..."

what CAN network issues are you thinking about? i was thinking about full conversion including wiring loom and ALL ecu's so not expecting any electrical problems...

From hat I have seen fitting the tfsi engine is fairly easy, seen a few in mk2 golfs recently but the real trick is getting all the high pressure fuel system working properly, tsr have one running as it should but won't give any details about how they did it, a second company that I can't quite remember at the minute pretty much said the same about theirs, it's in it runs but it was massive work and r&d to get it there so no way are they telling anyone how they did it!!!

All of which is going to make it a very expensive conversion.

I'm thinking about a V5 as you can pick a Tolly up for peanuts. In a Toledo is not that great, if you get a 20v its 170bhp, sounds pretty good. But I guess in a lighter Fabia is could be quite fun. They do have their problems mainly coil packs and lambda probes but hey so does the 1.8t. The peach n/a engine to play with is the 2.0 20v from the Passat/A4, apparently tunes very well.

yes you are right... what about v5 then? 170 bhp as standard but is there any hidden power in it? chip without turbo is not gonna make much difference probably.. what about sticking turbo on it? i have one of them at work for spares with coilpack problem... i will have a good look how big it is and if there is enough space for turbo. i already have electric leather seats from it but it looks like bit of a pain to fit them in fabia due to different rails and mounts.. :(

Supercharged K20 FTW!!!

Nea enough the same as the 2.8 foot print wise, guess the plus points would be lighter and much cheaper. I'd look at adapting a supercharger kit for the 2.8 I think.

bit off topic but i once fitted the half leather/alacantra seats into my old golf mk4 same mount etc on the golf just beware there heavy and i mean heavy plus the electric memory is a pain in the bum.
