I have searched but not hit on the current CR170 models that much for an opinion on when is soonest you would be able to sensibly remap the car. Want to have it done at same place I got the Furby done good deal worked out for the open brain job on it but car is only a little over a month old .... 505 miles so far and have another 1000 to do on a long drive shortly so at approx 1500 miles with about 250 of little trips sensible and the rest motorway good speeds varying them up and down in speed etc to help run it in.....

I don't like to do it so soon into the warranty etc but as I understand it the warranty will still apply unless the remap itself lead to a specific fault. From what ive read on here also there doesnt seem to be a need for a DFP delete on the new CR engines does anyone agree or disagree on that also ?

Cheers for any advice guys

I don't see why you couldn't get a remap before you drove it off the forecourt

Regarding the DPF, I don't think removal is a necessity, but you will see the benefit with a delete pipe and then a remap to knock out the sensors etc.

I visited JKM yesterday to see about remaping the car I'm due to collect on Saturday. Their advice was to wait until 1500 miles on the clock to make sure any teathing problems are sorted first. This will mean I miss out on the Revo promotion, but much respect to JKM advising me to wait rather than just grabbing the business.

cool that sounds like perfect advice for me too :D what revo promotion is there at moment??

BTW been told the CR170 is good for 215bhp and shown a print out of a new stock one that had been done most places tend to hover around 200-210 and does anyone know what the limit is for clutch in ft lbs for torque?? (sorry im full of questions today im holding back honestly) :p

£100 discount off Revo Remaps until 8 May 2011. http://www.revotechnik.com/

Why on earth is this a pole?! :| Surely if you want it remapped, get it remapped - don't post a pole and do whatever the vote is.

Plenty of threads on here about ppl modding new and few year old examples.

I got Revo remap at about 150 miles, now done 3k and it's going great. Don't see the point in waiting, if you're going to do it just do it!

I do want it remapped :p but pole is to see if its too soon or now for peoples opinion it saves them having to post :p

I waited with mine as I'm a bit of a pussy in that regard. Left it as long as I could and there was about 6 months left in the warranty when I had mine done. I'd wait personally, let any teething problems appear to be dealt with under warranty, plus it let's you get totally bored with it and realise how un fast the stock car is (they aren't fast at all IMO) before giving it a new lease of life.

Hurry up and do it!

As above-DPF removal not necessary, but will help. I personally would use a delete pipe rather than butcher a brand spanking new one, and you can reinstall it should you ever need to.

Teething problems should still be dealt with under warranty as long as it isn't caused by the remap. If the remap does cause a problem you would have to pay out to get it fixed whether your car is still within the warranty period or not so I don't understand people waiting for the warranty to run out before they do it. The benefit of doing it whilst still under warranty is that if it does cause a problem there's a chance that it might not be attributed to the remap in which case you get it fixed for free.

Hmm, that is a valid point. Never thought of it that way.

I had my Audi A4 remapped by a company called angeltuning.co.uk

They come to your home or work and do it there. The guys were really great with me and I'll certainly be using them again when I get my VRS

I'd wait for at least a few thousand miles first, but that's just me. It'll also help you to appreciate the newly found remapped power more :)

As for DPF removal, I don't think it's as big an issue as with the PD170 units, but it will help free up a bit more performance with it removed.

I have noticed the CR engine, as with all diesels and my old PD get better and more free spinning with age and miles as it loosens up - got it with just under 4k on it and now have 27k on, about 5k with the map. On that basis alone I think its wise to wait a bit. Chap at work had his Leon FR done at almost brand new and it burns a lot of oil now but he is a binary driver. It's either on or off with throttle, brakes, steering etc. Mine burns none. Don't know how relevant that is as I don't know how it was driven before I.got it by Skoda before it was left with all the others in a field in Milton Keynes.

Mine is 'Angel' tuned, gotta say, it's been over 2 years and 20+k and its never missed a beat!

My only concern with them is they don't do stages, its just a remap, then when I get the downpipe fitted, they will modify the map knocking out the O2 sensors etc.....
