skoda octavia oil light problem

Featured Replies

hi all im new to this , my octavia sump got smashed in but had it replaced but the light comes on with beeps any ideas any one , i got to use the car but worried it might blow engine, there is oil in it

Sounds like no/low oil pressure. As the very least it needs to be checked and confirmed but I'd suspect damage.

if you mean damage as in knocking then theres no knocking, just confuses me i checked oil its fine apart from drips of oil coming from new sump

I'd suspect that your oil pump would of picked up any small metal debris when your sump got smashed in and has likely to of worn the mechanism inside of the pump, thus the lack of oil pressure. Does the light only seem to appear on tickover?

comes on if i drive slow , but goes off for 5 mins then comes on for 5 mins beeps then goes off , ticking over or driving ,

It's an oil pressure warning, two possible scenarios as I can see it.

1 oil pressure dropped low enough that damage was caused thus no oil pressure

2 sump was replaced using to much sealer which has now dropped off inside the sump and is blocking the pick up

Either way the pressure needs to be verified.
