What lenses do you have?

Updated my camera gear list today for insurance purposes and forgot how much I've collected over the years!

Now you are just showing off! :D

Thats a lot of gear.......im still using the kit lense i got with my eos550; whether i will ever end up with that many lenses, i doubt it although have got my eye on a load of pre-dslr/AF lenses from cannon as i believe they use same fittings.

What camera you got with that lot then? and dont just say Nikon

Posting lens porn, for shame :)

Nice range there - I could have done with the 70-200mm f/2.8 last night for a tricky gig with crap lighting. How have you got on with the big Sigma?

I just have a simple setup of three Nikkor lenses - the 18-55mm DX VR, 55-200 DX VR and the 35mm f/1.8 DX. All cheap, and extremely cheerful :) The little 35mm prime is an absolute gem.

I will help the batting order for Canon

The only non Canon lens is a 150mm Sigma macro.

The Canon lenses are as follows.

Zooms - 16-35 f2.8L, 24-105 f4Lis, 70-200 f2.8Lis

Primes - 300 f2.8Lis, 500mm f4Lis

Specialist- Tilt Shift lenses - 24mmf3.5L II, 90mm f2.8

T/C's - Canon 1.4x, Canon 2x

My cameras all have "on" in them, so I that could be Canon, Nikon, Sony, Konica/Minolta. Damn, no Pentax

Body-wise, I have an old D70 which is what started me many moons ago, a D700 and D3s. Moving to full frame was a biggie for me, and I only regret it for the occasional wildlife where the crop body would be nice. DoF control is awesome though and combining the D3s or D700 with a 1.4 lens means you can shoot pretty much in pitch black and still not need flash :)

I've started collecting studio gear too - gone down the Elinchrom route. Again, not cheap, but very nice and so controllable. One of these days, I'll have a studio and do it properly :)

Hehe. It's annoying at time to not be able to use those gems of crop format glass :( I picked up the Tamron 17-35 for £150 brand new and I reckon that's a bargain as there aren't that many wide angle full frame lenses out there. Sure I'd love the Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8, but it's well expensive for the use I'd get out of it.

the Sigma 120-300 has hardly been used. Maybe half a dozen times at most :'( I also have a 2x TC for it, but it loses massively in sharpness and although it will make it a 240-600 f/5.6, it's not sharp until f/11. I'm saving up for some more telephoto stuff like Graham has (500/4 or 600/4) but it's both mouth watering and eye watering at the same time!

At the 'Budget' end of the spectrum, on my Sony A200 (APS-C) I have the following:

Minolta AF DT 18-70mm F3.5-5.6 D

Minolta AF 28-80mm xi F4-5.6

Tamron SP 90mm AF F2.8 macro (72E)

Minolta AF 100-300mm xi F4.5-5.6

Minolta AF Reflex 500mm F8

by Budget I mean none of the lenses cost me more than £260 (and that was the 500mm). Most are older non digital and so are ideal for my older Minolta 5xi if I ever use film...

I've got a Nikon D200 with 18-55(I think) and 80-400 along with a number of older AIS lenses. I really must get out and use the kit a bit more than I do. I've seen some absolutely cracking photos on Brisky lately and should like to try my hand.

Andy

Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AF-D

That little prime is the biggest bargain in photography, and I;m amazed more people don't realise :) It's absolutely razor sharp across the whole range, and focuses like a rocket. I'd have grabbed one while they're still around, but the D5000 doesn't have a screw drive so I went for the 35mm f/1.8DX instead

I noticed it had dropped in price again when i was in Jessops last week. Was £115 when i got mine from there last year and now it's £105-ish from memory.

Cheers

Dave.

I got one of those Canon 24-105 f4 L coffee cups off the bay last year.

Was so impressed with it that I went out and bought the real thing - this is even better (except when it comes to keeping coffee hot)

:giggle:

Minolta,-- 35-70

Sony, ---- 75-300

:blush::blush:

Just bought another one: got the Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG Aspherical HSM.

I've been after some wide angle and having full frame bodies, it really limits the choice. Managed to pick this one off ebay for around £360 so it's quite a bit cheaper than new and a hell of a lot cheaper than the Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8.

It's not fast, but I don't care as I'm using it for landscape stuff and stop it down even further.

But oh boy, 12mm non fisheye on a full frame sensor is insanely wacky wide. And I love it already! Will post some pics up in a bit.

I loved the look of the 200mm F2 lens until I read the price...eek! Enjoy the ultrawide lens which is a type I'm a big fan of an use frequently, I spent ages deciding on whether to go for the pricey Olympus 7-14mm but eventually did and very pleased with it. The tiny Panasonic 7-14mm is one of the highlights of micro 4/3 for me particularly coupled with the GH series bodies giving native 14mm equivalent 16:9 shots.

At the moment my camera collection is a bit of a mix:

Olympus E-1, E-330, E-500, E-510, E-3, 7-14mm F4, 12-60mm F2.8-F4, 14-42mm, 14-45mm, 14-54mm F2.8-f3.5, 35-100mm F2, 40-150mm, 50mm F2, 50-200mm

Sigma 4/3 30mm F1.4, 50-500mm

Panasonic 4/3 L1, 14-50mm

Panasonic micro 4/3 GF1, GH1, GH2, 7-14mm, 14-140mm, 14mm F2.5, 20mm F1.7, 100-300mm F4-F5.6

Nikon D700, 24-70mm F2.8, 28-300mm F3.5-F5.6, 50mm F1.4G, 70-200mm F2.8

If we ever bump into each other, you can have a go with the kit, but it will all be chained to me.
