Inside petrol fuel filter

Featured Replies

I just changed my fuel filter on my '05 vRS, and I thought I'll post a few pics of the inside.

I must say thanks to Bodge on the info (& Fatty5000 who added it as a tech guide). I have been drowning my Norma clip with WD40 and using a small brush to clean off the muck a few days before hand. So I knew the clip would undo.

And yes the only fuel that came out was mainly from the filter. I did not have 20 litres trying to empty itself on my drive thankfully ;)

I had a litle problem seeing the little button to press on the fuel line clip closest to the tank, I thought it was on the top, where I could hardly get my hand to :( But after wedging my head under the car, I saw it was at the bottom and easy to get to :D

For how difficult they are I do mine every 5K along with oil/filter & air filter wash.

Your filter does look particularly manky!!

Ahh the dodgy jubilee clip. Mine was pretty rusty, replaced it with 2 cable ties.

What on a high pressure fuel injection system? :o

Ambitious that!

A stainless jubilee is far better!!! And considerably safer!!!!

Oh crumbs. Id better go out and swap it!

Dont worry, its all secure.

He means to hold the filter to the car, not to hold the fuel lines to the filter...

I wonder what mines like then? It's an 02 car with the original filter :o

I last changed my diesel filter about 100k ago I think.... I have a replacement in the garage, so I had better get on do that (assuming the old girl passes her MOT on Friday 13th... )

I changed mine last year as R-tech picked up on the rolling road that it wasn't 100%

so cheap to buy it seems daft to leave it till 4 years/60k to change

Yeha.

I'm just about to order one. I'm gonna change me oil soon and I'll do this at the same time.
