Clicking Noise during/after reversing?

Featured Replies

Just the past 4 days I've noticed a weird clicking type sound when I reverse say into a parking space, and it continues to click for a few seconds even in neutral.

I sounds like it's coming from glove box area or below but I can't trace it. Any ideas?

Maybe the cabin air recirculation gearing has jammed? When you reverse, the vehicle will automatically attempt to turn on air recirculation to stop exhaust fumes from entering the cabin.

Have you tried turning on your air recirculation using the button on the facia during normal driving to see if the clicking noise occurs?

I'll give that a go, the clicking is annoying and I forgot to mention that it does stop straight away when I switch off the engine.

Just tried that, still does it?

Was out again today for a better drive and it still does it even with the air recirculation button switched on. Tho only 'click' when reversing and then should I go forward again too(after reversing into a parking space for instance)....takes a few seconds to stop itself or as said, if I switch it off.

What I meant with the air recirculation button is to try driving forward normally where you currently don't get any noise and then to try turning the air circulation button on, if you don't get the clicking when driving forward with the button on then it's not that causing the clicking.

I just don't know what else could be clicking from the glovebox area when your in reverse.
