MPG CR VRS

Was amazed at my MPG on the way home today. The journey i take home usually sees me getting around 47-50MPG but today i got this and i was driving as normal at around 70MPH. It is a 23mile trip consisting of about 17-18miles of motorway.

Makes me wonder if the car has been doing some sort of regen the last few weeks, or maybe it is still recovering after i filled it up with Asda Diesel a couple of months back :giggle:

Never saw anything like that on mine, in fact my overall average was between 36 and 37. I get nearly 30 with the tsi, must be more suited to my driving style!

It's normal.

my average so far over 600 odd miles has been 33mpg !!!!!!!!!! and it honestly has not been driven hard at all (did have 1 speed run on autoban once!!!) but over half has been town only driving cold engine so....

Have a 850 mile drive at weekend will reset trip1 for that and report back had best be 53 plus !!!

I think that is the thing with these CR engines is they take so blooming long to warm up. Over the winter i was only managing around 70c on the oil temp after a 23 mile journey on the motorway! Best was the one day watching the coolant needle plummet when i pulled off the motorway and coasting up the slip road (was -16c though)! This weather it takes a good 10 miles to get the oil to 90C.

Bloody hell emoticon-0124-worried.gif

My average is only around 43mpg

quick one for you what sort of oil temp do your CR's sit at ???? mine goes to about 98 when fully warm I only check the odd time speed run on autoban saw 107DegC mind you it was slightly down hill and needle hit 147 (must have been a following wind)

I averaged 50mpg on a 1900 mile round trip to the alps and back last summer, repeating same journey in July and fully expect similar results. Just stuck it in cruise set to 80mph all the way.

98 is spot on. Mine is about that up to I've seen 110 after a blast and then sitting in traffic.

good stuff never had oil temp reading in a car before hadn't a clue lol now for the decision on the ECU out for remap to do or not to do that is the BIG question ...............

Daily between 50 and 55mpg

I do 3k a month, motorway and town driving.

Yesterday to blackheath and then grays inn road: 53mpg.

I have averaged 48mpg since new in 18000 miles

Normally I see about 50 to 52 mpg on my work commute, mainly motorway

Tonight as I was only doing just under 60mph the readout when I got home was 66.3mpgemoticon-0148-yes.gif Can not fault itemoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

On my CR which I collected yesterday I averaged 39mpg during a 35 mile journey, surprised because my previous PD vRS would easily return 44mpg. I don't know how the car was driven during the first 17k miles of its life so I'm guessing things will improve the more I drive the car. I reset all counters last night. The lifetime average consumption was displaying 39mpg.

I get around 43-44 on my work commute during the winter months but 46-48 during the summer. MY od PD did aeound 40-42 in winter and 43-44 in summer. On a long run I easily get 50+ with the best around 58(55 was the best I ever got out of my PD vrs).

I've slightly over 2200 miles on the clock and my best so far is 58.7 on a trip to friends in Wales, my overall average is 43.5 to date.

I'm averaging 54mpg in mine. Got 63.1 last week on a trip to perth. Very pleased with the car and love the way it drives

I regularly see over 50Mpg in my VRS CR 212 and it's a bit Fishy  !

Only had two fill-ups and still got less than 1000 miles on ours but it's averaging just over 42mpg (although the trip computer is reporting an average of just under 45mpg).

My wifes commute is only about 7 or 8 miles and a lot of that is in slow moving traffic so that doesn't help the average.

Only on my third tank so far but been doing a fair bit of motorway and dual carriageway with the cruise control set at about 75. Trip computer reckons 48.9 mpg on the last 2 tanks, fuel reciepts reckon 47.5mpg, so the computers fuel measurement is suprisingly accurate. I'm impressed that the computer always seems to be well over 40mpg even on short trips through town, and is generally in the low 50's on the motorway.

The lifetime average consumption was displaying 39mpg.

Unless yours is different to mine it's not lifetime average, but average over the last 100hrs driven.

On my car (Pre-FL CR VRS) the trip computer 2 only goes up to 99h59m before resetting back to 0.

Yeah that's what I meant but I usually refer to it as lifetime even though I know it is not :) I will be surprised if I cannot achieve a higher average than 39mpg with this car.

Wife's 80 mile commute (total) can be done at anything from mid 40's (mid winter 80mph) to mid 60's (now, 56mph) according to computer. She has managed high 70's just taking the motorway part of the journey, in the more efficient direction (going one way takes more mpg then the other for some reason) and sitting behind a lorry.

A few years ago I don't think she would have ever considered going less then the speed limit, but now fuel prices have gone up taking 10 minutes longer each way to significantly increase fuel economy makes a sense. Low speeds aren't ideal but pretty impressive such a big heavy fast car can manage it.

200 mile round trip to haywards heath today - averaged 63mpg - leaving at 6:30 and hitting slow traffic on m25 by m40 through to m4. - traffic okay on way back

Dont trust any of these electronic trip mpg thingys. They are about as accurate as the TPM'S! Saying that the cr vrs is coming in better than the pd vrs and pd sport that we have had before. Best tracking it through fuelly for more accurate results I feel. That gives hard facts using litres and miles. It also opens your eyes how much you spend on fuel and I feel THAT more than anything else brings back even better mpg results! I play my works Berlingo against the VRS and the VRS is winning by a mile much to the wifes amusement!
