VRS Hatch rear mud flaps fitting

Featured Replies

I fitted mine without taking the wheels off, didn't bother with middle screw/fixing. I used the top one and furthest one, also used the self tap doubrie that came with the mud flaps, feels VERY secure to me, more so on the drivers side than the passenger side, due to the exhaust and the segment of the bumper that it removed for the silencer.

They look ok to me, fit nicely ALL the way round the bumper profile.

Stupid question, but how did you guys manage to fit the rear mudflats without removing the wheel?

I ended up removing the wheels it was easier in the long run plus you need to drill a hole for one of the screws.

Timely reminder! I fitted the factory fronts last year, finding a large amount of garden behind the front inner guard. When it warms up I'll check how much has crept in again.

The rally style ones look much more functional, as has been mentioned, the std Octavia ones are too small for the agricultural tracks which are passed off as roads here.

I have the OEM flaps on my vRS and can confirm they are pretty ineffective.

The fronts protect the first two inches of the sill but the rest is still as vulnerable.

The rears protect the first inch of the rear bumper, not a lot more.

I also took off the rear wheels to make life easier fitting, the fronts can be fitted with the wheel in situ.

With great frustration (see post #1) but mine went on fairly easily didn't need to drill an extra hole as screw just went through into the clip provided easily. If I had a trolly jack handy I would have ripped the rear wheels off but didn't.

Mine are the square type ones front and rear and do make a good difference, the rear bumper is so long you will never protect it all but it doesn't spray up the side of bumper any more. They have been on over 18 months and no dramas.

Priced mine on the net £40 for front and rear+postage. Printed off took to local Skoda dealer hey presto £40. less than one hour to fit move the inner hole slightly to line up. The rears dont follow the exact contours of the rear wing, but its close so close you have to get up close to see it. If you are that fussy a slither of foam black rubber pushed into the gap makes them perfect.
