quick wipers twitch when turning engine off

Featured Replies

as per the title when I turn the key off having stopped and applied parking brake in neutral the front wipers seem to move even though they haven't been used at all during drive a little twitch seem to move a few mm... I can't think why they would do this am I missing something??

If I recall correctly it mentions this somewhere in the manual and it says it's something to do with altering the park position ever so slightly to avoid wear on the blades or to stop the blades sticking to the screen or something like that.

Mine does ;) and HID flickers too when ignition on

On my superb I think they move only when I have the rain sensor activated. I think it worked like this on my BMWs too...

Mine do it too, but mine also do it when the switch is in the off position.

I think its something employed across the VAG range, as our work Sharans do it as well!

nice one thanks dude :D that me all happy again now

Normal. It's to stop the blades always sitting with the same side against the glass. Cuts down on wear or something like that.

Its called Park Mode to prevent damge to the blades

Mine does the opposite. They give the "twitch" when i start driving.

Always wondered what that was all about... The Octavia has lots of thoughtful little touches like this...

Ahhhhh, always wondered why they did that. Now i know. Fancy.
