Vanstyle UV sunblinds / window shades

Featured Replies

Ordered a set of these the other week, they turned up this afternoon and have just managed to get them fitted.

Initially slightly fiddly to unseat the rubber seal enough to get the clip behind it, but once I'd done the first one the rest were a piece of cake. They fit very snuggly in the window, held well by the clips (3 on each side).

(Delivered in a handy storage bag, which I'll keep the rear window pair in for now)

You can see there's quite a difference too:

Last pic on the stream makes it look like there's a bit of a sag, but it's not noticeable in the flesh, think the camera flash embellished it.

Very pleased with them.

Might fit the rear blind if I have a minute over the w/e, see what it looks like.

Couple more pics in my Flickr stream, included the box pic for lols:

They look good how much?

Not cheap, £80 for the set and a tenner for postage, so £90 all-in, though you'd pay £84 for the official Skoda ones anyway, which only includes the side windows and not the rear.

Bit the bullet and bought them as I was sick of the sun getting in my Son's eyes on journeys, the cheapy stick-on roller blinds NEVER seemed to cover the right area of the window! Hopefully this'll sort it.

I have had mine in for over a year now, still very pleased with them.

Look really good mate

I have a set fitted. Very impressed. Bought mine from them through eBay.. sure they were cheaper....

Yeah i'd heard that, there weren't any on there when i ordered though. Thanks for that though. ;)

I've been looking at getting these for a while? What effect do these blinds have on the anti-dazzle rear view mirror? Will it still work or do the blinds do the same job anyway? Also, am I right in thinking the sensor for the auto-lights is on the rear view miror too - so is this also affected by installing these blinds??? I was looking at getting the Skoda ones with the vouchers from the fixed price service deal but the Vanstyle ones look way cheaper - are they basically the same spec as the manufacturer ones?

Any help appreciated!

I have these fitted to my Scout. I found fitting the blinds to the rear windows a tad fiddly, but I found using a flat headed screw driver, used VERY carefully, will peel back the rubber and once I had achieved that, they were a doddle to fit. The rear side windows (estate) were even easier to install.

The rear window is split in two and initially was tricky as you have to try and get them to fit in the same space (where they meet in the middle). I have removed the hatch pair as I found they interfered with the auto dimming mirror function, having said that, the blinds do reduce glare from behind, just not to the same standard as the auto dimming mirror. Also, you are aware of a black line down your rear window when looking in the mirror. I have kept them in the supplied bag in boot, and fit them when I am parked up long term when the sun decides to show itself. It does happen, occasionally in Scotland! :giggle:

The blinds do not affect auto lights as the sensor is fitted to front screen, not the mirror housing itself.

I had heavily tinted windows on my Honda Civic, (I lived in Gibraltar for over two years) and I seriously considered tinting the windows on the Scout, however one advantage of the shades is that I can park up in the drive, disengage the ultrasonic component of the alarm (the button is on the b-pillar, drivers side) and leave the windows open safe in the knowledge that midgies are not going to infest my vehicle. Not something I would feel comfortable doing with tints only!!

I have recently fitted a sunscreen across the top of the windscreen (£20 from the people who had tinted my Civic) and it has transformed the vehicle when driving in low sunlight, why this feature is not fitted as standard on the Scout is beyond me!

Hope this helps.

Fin

Do you find the sunblinds reduce the noise level inside the cabin?

Thanks Fin

Yes, although the instructions that came with ours were quite hard to make out. Clearer, full colour instructions are on their website - here's a link to the instructions for the estate.

They look very good!... My little one is spoilt sitting in the front recently (more fun for both of us!) but whenever we turn into sun she sneezes the most disgusting snot..... time she went back again I think.

ordered :)

will post pics asap

not too sure about the rear window shade, its a very tight and from outside you can see it sags a little

We are on our 2nd Vrs with these on worth every penny, I do think the roller blind for the rear one is a better option than the 2 for the rear window.

Worth every penny.

im tempted to send mine back

sides are awesome but rear one is a let down

will try refit tonight to see if i can get rid of the gaps and sagginess

shame they dont sell the sides on their own

rs939, your rears ones go on ok?

I have a spare set of these going if anyone wants them (for the side windows).

In perfect nick.

We had them on our fabia and like most have said the side window ones were great, the back one was a bit crap being split in two.

(I also still have them if nayone wants a set for a mkI Fabia).

I am looking for some - have sent you a PM

I had a set of these in my Octavia and over the course of 4 years they never deteriorated. The rear screen has to be in 2 pieces because of the size of the window, if it was one piece then it would definately sag over time. Mine never showed any signs of sagging.

I purchased from OESunShades, which later became VanStyle I believe. They used to manufacture for the major car companies, may still do.

I have a set fitted to the vRoomster with a one piece rear screen. Admittedly they are OEM skoda ones and I sure as hell paid a premium for them.

>>insert shafted smiley here<<

I did research OESunhades/VanStyle ones at the time but was put off by having a split rear screen blind. I had a split rear one fitted on my Fabia and it properly annoyed me.

I will be ordering a set for the Touran and having the rear screen permanently tinted as I can't be doing with a black line down the middle again :giggle:

Can you let me know how you get on please. I was going to order a set for my vRS but when I contacted van style a guy called dan emailed me back saying that their shades do not fit the face lift model ( which I am finding a bit strange as there seems to be quite a few on the forum that have them fitted). My vRS is a Feb 2012 hatch

Thanks in advance

Bernie
