Heated windscreen washer nozzles

Featured Replies

I'm going to be putting a deposit down for a octavia on Wednesday our first Skoda and have downloaded the tech updates for the manual and it mentions heated washer nozzles but it's not available on all models. Does anyone know which models it is on as the need to hang out the window with a bottle of water just to be able to see is appealing.

Also which options would you recommend are one's not to leave out, we are getting the Elegance trim with xenon lights, maxidot computer and the spare tyre. We are debating on the heated seats, light assistant and tyre pressure monitor.

Finally we were looking at the cool box that goes in the book, a dealer option but it needs to be powered and the hatch has no power outlet in the boot, can this be put in or alternatively is running a cable from the front to the back for occasional use a viable option, ie no snag points where the cable could break.

Thanks in advance

I do not think any UK spec octavias have heated windscreen washers (did you download the UK tech specs or from another country).

As for the options the auto lights/wipers does not cost much and is a nice little feature. Does the elegance have rear parking sensors? If not then this a a good option especially for the hatchback. The tyre pressure monitor just uses the abs system (looks for a wheel turning more than the others suggesting a lower tyre pressure), I have it on my VRS but do not think I would pay for it.

TPM is about as much use as ice skates in Beelzebub's house...

I hit a pothole that caused the tyre to deflate within half a mile last year and the TPM didn't even register there was a problem. I've also had several false alerts from it so I wouldn't pay for that as an option either...

Briskodian the spec sheet was from the international site, it had the user manuals where as the uk one didn't. The elegance has the rear parking sensors as standard.

From the other comments think the TPM will get kicked to the kerb.

Thanks

+1 re tpm about as much use as a chocolate fireguard or an ashtray on a motorbike

Interesting to hear all of your thoughts about the TPM, on my Superb (which uses the same ABS sensor system) it works flawlessly, the first time I thought it was playing up - then saw the screw in the tyre emoticon-0106-crying.gif (tyre 'looked' fully inflated, suppose that is one downside to a 225/40/18) then when I put my spare tyre on to get the tyre repaired (I had reset the TPM) it again picked up within yards that the 205/55/16 spare was slightly smaller than the rest.

So yes it may be a crude system, but it works, would I pay extra for it? .... not sure TBH

TPM has picked up a couple of slow punctures for me. Picked up a difference of about 3psi between tyres.

TBH I still wouldn't pay for it. I check tyres regularly anyway.

I wouldn't worry too much about heated washer nozzles either. I've had them on a previous car and the pipe behind the nozzle freezes too so they still don;t work. Spend the cash on good screen wash and they won't freeze. The VAG screen wash is actually very good and if you use the right concentration it won't freeze at all.

If I was specifying my car again I'd get maxidot, heated seats and leather. I'd have leather before xenons.

It did the same on my old car and I thought it useful, but it is standard fitment on a vRS.
