  • Worth every penny. Available from Demon Tweeks £45 ish. I've had mine for over 2 years. For normal driving I just remove the locking plate. And when doing track days it's a must have. It keeps the lap

  • Thanks Lloyd

well i have spoken to CG lock several times and we meet the group buy requirements which is great, however......they are out of stock...soooooooooo

we have to be patient, they are going to let me know as soon as they are back in and can meet our demand, then we can go from there, and i will update the forum accordingly,

10 weeks is the rough waiting time for the stock to be available again. :'(

I've just put my name down, but it will depend upon the final waiting time (and if I remember that I put my name down for this in 2 months!)

Has this died?

Has this died?

In a word "No". There is a severe shortage of stock at CG Lock. At the beginning of July they gave me a 10 week waiting time for new stock to come in :'(

I really want one of these so I dont mind hanging on for as long as it takes.

I don't quite understand this, the most dangerous seatbelt in a car is a lap belt hence why they have done away with them and have instead went for three point belts, this device takes the standard 3 point belt and makes it more like a lap belt? Somehow this sounds backwards?! Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also how will this work when the pre tensioners fire? I've been in a accident where the airbags and pre tensioners fired and they fired with such force the belt was uncomfortably tight across my lap and even broke the plastic surrounding the seatbelt, if this device makes the belt tighter wouldn't this increase the chances of broken hips? Also the website says having a tight lapbelt controls your centre of gravity and increases your vehicle control? That sounds complete nonsense?

To justify my thoughts I keep thinking of rally drivers and pilots, they all have either 4 or 5 point seat belts and none of those include lapbelts as these have shown to be highly dangerous.

... Please correct me if I'm wrong ...

I'm afraid you've not understood how these cam devices work - they do not 'lock' the lampbelt, the cam stops the nylon tape from loosening once pulled tight.

If you read through the tech info, its very clear how they aid with positioning of the belt, and reduce risk to wearer of a brocken ribcage when a tensioner fires and the airbag pops

I've already read that page and I still can't understand how it works, I have never once had slack around my lap in the last 11 years of driving, the tension and rewind of the factory fitted seatbelt keeps it snug, has anyone got one that can explain it better than the website?

Also there is no way on this earth that this seatbelt thing can improve your driving so much that it makes your lap time so faster, otherwise track cars would fit them and save £2000 worth of bhp (as stated on the website).

Maybe I'm being stupid but this just doesn't make sense to me.

Track cars and racing cars are fitted with harnesses, the best thing to keep you secure and strapped to your seat, but a completely different ball game to a CG Lock or regular seatbelt. The CG lock aims to bridge that gap without the need for harnesses and a fixed harness point in the rear of your car. Under spirited driving (or track use) tight cornering and flying over crests does tend to move you around in the seat which in turns means that you are not in full control of the car and sometimes have to back off (i've experienced this on track) or leaves you unable to hold the right line. The CG lock will try and keep you planted secure in your seat better and safely by restricting slack in the lap section of the belt, meaning that your seatbelt only has to concentrate on keeping tension across your torso which it can then generally do better.

The CG-Lock website seem to have removed a whole bunch of info, so here are some of the more useful pages from the printed brochure

The images are scans of the document, and hopefully shouldn't take too long to download:

Ok, first can i say that i am not trying to hijack this group buy but unfortunately i am a really impatient git who can never wait for things to move along naturally.............and so on that note i gave CG Lock another ring and they say that the stock should be with them in the last week in November. The chappie on the phone said that for a group buy we should ring back then to get it organised in that last week in Nov. and hopefully everything should kick into gear.

We might even get them before Christmas.......WOOOOOHOOOOO !!!!!

Won't be long now until this has been going for 12 months.

OK, if no one else is going to, i will give them a ring on Monday and see what they say. As has been pointed out, this has now been going on for far too long. They must have some blooming stock in by now !!!!!!!

I ordered one of these in August 2011 from Merlin Motorsport and it arrived just after Xmas

Do you know if it the latest version of the lock as they are supposed to have a new design out ??

sadly they seem to have real supply issues, not great at all tbh, shame
