What to expect on new Octy VRS?

Featured Replies

Today ordered a new VRS hatchback diesel with leather interior in race blue. I've heard a lot of stories about delays on new orders recently so was surprised to find the exact model I wanted listed by the dealer as "awaiting import"!I expecting to have it with me in 2-3 weeks.

So the question is: After sitting in a car lot at the ferry terminal for god knows how long what should I expect the paintwork to be like when it arrives? I know they're delivered new with white film on the upper parts and the dealer promises it will be nice and shiny but in reality...?

IS any protection / sealant applied at the factory? Woudl I be best of stripping it right back and startign from scratch of just polish then wax on top of what may or may not be there?

Suggestions welcome!

Mike

The dealer will sort it all at PDI, so it should be lovely and shiney.

I think the car you are getting is most likely someone elses cancelled order, which as by luck would have it is the same spec you want otherwise you would have been waiting quiet sometime.

Yeah, I hear a 6 month wait isn't unusual at the moment so a stroke of luck for me...

Do you reckon the dealer will do a proper clean or just a quick spit n' polish? And before anyoen asks I sure as hell am not paying the £400 they want to chuck on 2 coats of AG SRP!

Having detailed a fair few 'brand new' Skoda's the paintwork is usually in very good condition, however this entirely depends on how long it's been sat around and also which dealer the car goes through.

It will certainly have picked up a lot of contaminents on it's trip over to the UK, so a good strip back and protection process would be well advised.....

With regards to the dealer doing a 'proper clean' in reality they more than likely will but their level of a 'proper clean' will be different to that of you and I or a detailer, I do agree though paying them £400 for some Lifeshine will not yield long term results.........
