Audi S3

Featured Replies

Just browsing for my next future motor and came across the Audi S3 .Thought it odd that I'd never seen this car before given it shares the engine with the TTS and now I can SEE why. It looks like the dullest, blandest, least flamboyant car I have ever seen.

Did the Audi designers have a tea break when they were doing this one? Either that or Audi just went cut price and didn't employ any. No flair or imagination at all. Add in the fact it's 4-5mpg down and 20CO2 heaver than the TTS.

Has to be the best Q car I've seen though. You could go past even the most avid motorist and they wouldn't take any notice of you I would think.

On another note, the S1 interests me but it'll be overpriced. They say it'll go against the JCW. Still in two minds whether I like the JCW :D

I'm not keen on Audi's in general. All overpriced and all look the same. There's nothing that makes them stand out anymore. It's a really good engine in the TTS though

Have you seen one in real life?! The pictures make all the cars look a bit boring on the websites tbh. They arnt quite "focus rs" in your face more upmarket than that, but they deffo have presence on the road, stunning motor imo, and one thats on my list of possible next cars.

Matt

A brilliant sleeper, but my god it's expensive. You can spec it to over £40k!!

Horrible and boring or ultimate Q car? probably neither to be honest and it's no more boring than any vRS or GTI of a similar generation?

doesn't it essentially have the same 2.0T as the current LCR or the Edition30?

A brilliant sleeper,

Lothian & Borders Police would concur with this, They've got two,1 red &1 black!

By the time drivers have realised it's the police, It's too late!emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Sound fab when given the beans!

I thought so, the RS3 is the way forward imho......

The S3 is a fantastic car IMO and looks far far better in real life than on any pics !

I'm getting one to replace the fabia and just waiting for the right one at the right price :)

Maybe I'm judging it to harshly then. The engine isn't bad (what Audi engine is?) just the car looked a bit bland for me. Hopefully get to see one up close and perhaps that'll change my mind :p Just for an S model, I'd expect some visible flair outside.

I can't imagine everyone who wants a fast hatchback, wants something as in your face as a Focus RS. Im sure there's just as much market for something subtle.

Just as an example, if you had to turn up to a customers office in a hot hatch, i'd have S3 and Golf GTI at the top of my list. If a Megane Sport or Focus RS turned up at work, im sure you'd have imagined a wide boy sales person before they even got in the door.

That's why I didn't buy the yellow vRS... I think they look great but I could just imagine customer seeing me turn up in that and spending the whole day shadowing me making sure I wasn't screwing their systems up rather than just leaving me to get on with things. The Race Blue gets admiring glances (and a lot of questions about how good are those Skodas these days) but I'm still annoyed my supplying dealer wouldn't change the colour to anthracite which became available a few days after I placed my order for the race blue...

Any new car produced in Euro zone (and Japan) is just too expensive for what you get for your money.

Rather have a S4 for a little more money if was sticking with VAG as you do not have the compromises on range and room or maybe an XF for similar money.

A3/S3 is a Golf variant after all and £30k to £40K and awful fuel consumption and range.

+1 looking round an Audi/BMW dealer some of the used prices border on the comical.
