lowering the vrs

Featured Replies

Now ive got the vrs i dont really like the hight it sits, has anyone yet had theirs lowered, and if so where did you get it done, cheers.....ice.

There are a couple of people who have I think.

Only option at the moment I believe is the Eibach kit. You may as well order the parts online and get any old garage to fit it for you.

The ride height from the factory is sort of comical for a 'hot hatch' isn't it...

Would love to get mine done but can't justify spending more money on it!

its an optical illusion caused by the body shape ;) at the last WSM meet we put my (standard mar II vRS) and tiggers (standard mark I vRS) next to each other and measured the gap between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch... the new vRS actually sits lower than the old one!

and yes, eibach spring are available off e-bay, theres a pic on here of someone who's done it, and it does look good

added bonus are the eibachs are approved by skoda, so no loss of warrenty :)

cheers lads will have to find out where i can get them done, thing is they got to be done right, just have to find out where i can get them done properly, cheers.....ice. B)

it might sit slightly lower than the old one but both the mk1 and 2 are comically high. its a skoda thing as its the same on the octavia vRS, yet the GTI and cupra sit alot lower

this is true, but the fabia has a more forgiving ride

polo has much better damping though. vRS suspension is shocking when booting it on a rough road

Are things swappable between the GTi and the vRS? Like the Cupra bushes with the vRS?

haven't driven the polo so couldn't comment. the seat's are always too hard for me.... what exactly do you mean by shocking? I know the others run 215/40/17's which would have a bit more give on a rough surface, the 205/40 profile in the vRS does make it tramline on a rough surface, is this what you mean? you will always feel the inperfections more with a smaller sidewall, maybe fitting 215's may help with your feeling for this? (I will stick to the 205's, our roads arn't too bad up here..)

can't remember where I read it... I 'fairly' sure someone posted a skoda link that offered the eibachs.... don't quote me on it though!

I would think so.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Getting springs fitted is difficult to get wrong. You certainly don't need a specialist garage or anything - just a local place you trust will be fine.
