PS3's

Featured Replies

Right, finally getting round to buying a PS3. Its primary task will be as a media player in the lounge, I might even play the odd game on it (but I will need a new TV for that as the response on the current one is shocking). But what else can you do with them that is usefull ?

Use is as a talking point discussing playing online games!

Obviously you have the bluray player, if you buy the playtv box and remote then you can use it as a PVR, install something like PS3 media server on a computer in your house and you can stream any downloaded content direct to your PS3 including music and HD mkv files. You can also stream content from BBC iPlayer, 4OD and ITV Player and rent films from love film.

Plenty :)

Potentially - is the keyword, nothing was ever proven either way.

The secruity issues have been resolved and all existing users have had to download a firmware update and change their login crudentials.

Obviously this wouldn't be a problem as he's yet to sign up.

Alot more than an xbox 360 can do :giggle:

It's definitely worth playing some of the classic games that can be had for not much more than a tenner.

As a media player it's pretty damn good - I use a USB drive formatted to FAT32 for my files but you can stream as well.

They also have the iPlayer and channel 4 / ITV equivalents.

The Blu Ray playback is pretty good too.

Oh, and lovefilm is on there too.

I think an hour or two playing Drake's Fortune might convince you which one to get..

And it's about a tenner now on Play or Amazon ;)

Excellent. New PS3 Slim is bought and installed, having to use the composite video lead for now until I sort out an HDMI. God my telly is crap :( at least it cost bu66er all.

Wish I'd kept my old 32 inch tv now.

When I hook up my PS2 for a slice of Black or Burnout it looks crap on my HDTV.

Now connected with an HDMI lead. Much, much better :)
