Seriously thinking about ordering a Yeti 170 Elegance for March 2012.

After 3 Octavia vRS's I feel the need for a change, would like better snow driving ability and looking for something a bit heavier as we plan to change our caravan in 2012 and it is likely to be a heavier model.

The spec my dealer is pricing is:

Petrol blue metallic

Tyre pressure monitor

Spare wheel

Heated windscreen

Annapurna Alloys

Front and rear mudflaps

Silver roof rails

Alu mirror covers, side skirts, front and rear bumper trims

Fixed towbar with fully functioning 13 pin electrics (fitted by a local speacialist who has done all my Skoda's prior to collection)

Anything else I should spec it with? The sunroof would be great (have one in the current vRS) but would stretch the budget I think.

I normally get high 40's/50mpg with my vRS, what can I expect from the Yeti?

Although I am currently towing 1300Kg which won't be a problem with the Yeti, is anyone towing 1400/1450Kg with one (NB Can do without the anti-caravanning comments getting into this one - we are keen, life long caravanners so have heard it all!).

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you scrap the heated windscreen, and go for standard paint, that will offset the cost of a sunroof.

Just a thought.emoticon-0114-dull.gif

And what spec are you going for as well??? SE, Elegance etc.....

Good choice so far.

Thanks.

Elegance spec.

The reason behind the heated screen is the Yeti may not fit under my garage door (very unlikely actually- old house/old garage!) ... so looking for something for those frosty mornings.

My second choice of colour is Corrida red (had that on my last vRS and loved it), so yes have thought about saving the money on metallic and putting it towards the roof! Will see what the figures actually are, but the sunroof is a big chunk of money!

Sounds a real nice spec :)

If I was to suggest any extras to the list it would be front park sensors; never had this option before and added them as an afterthought. Been impressed with how well they work in conjunction with the rear sensors.

Regard paint then my previous Yeti was Corrida which looked very nice, however the white I think is even better, obviously personal taste.

Don't forget Towbar Prep, it makes towbar fitters happy. ;)

Thinking about these myself - how are they controlled? First gear only? And then switched on/off as required?

Hi,

both front and rear sensors activate on selection of reverse and will stay active until you move forward above 7-10mph (will not work above that speed). Can also be selected manually via a dash mounted button within the row of switches in front of the gear-stick. Obviously for parking nose in without having selected reverse (both sets of sensors will still activate).

Find then quite amusing, as I often have to reverse the car through the house to the front drive :giggle: and then stop to put the work bag etc. in the boot, forgetting the sensors are still live; results in a right orchestra from in the car :D

Oh you also get a full car overview image on the radio screen, rather than just the boot end if you only have the rear sensors.

Regards,

TP

How is that car so CLEEEEEEAAAAAAAN????

Library photo; taken day after collection from James :giggle:

Daft as it sounds the white stays reasonably clean, only the winter roads will make her look like she's been loaned to Juha Kankkunen :o

Strange you mention Juha as he was at our factory a few weeks ago. He has again recently set the record for the fastest top speed on ice in a Bentley Conti Convertible. Got a nice signed pic off him too.. :)

I would have to agree with that. I like white. when it is dirty, it shows where the dirt is, so you know where not to touch it emoticon-0136-giggle.gif, whereas other colours hide the dirt so you touch it and get dirtyemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

But in this weather it stays pretty clean and doesn't show the dirt until you are up close. If you remember the photos TP took on the day of collection of both white Yeti, Elsie the Helipad was quite dirty, but it was hard to tell from the photos.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

My current vRS is candy white so fancied a change ... however I have seen a few white Yetis and they do look good ... food for thought!

Fred

It would be top of the list IF it offered full connectivity, but it doesn't allow for charging the caravan battery while travelling or keeping the fridge cool whilst on the road, not sure if it would give power to my Alko ATC electronic stability system either ... so sadly not a lot of use to the caravanner, which is just daft on Skodas part!

Having lived with candy white for a while now I have to say it does generally look pretty clean ... sometimes its only when you start to wash it you realise how dirty it is!

Interesting to know .. thanks for that ... however it would need to be a substantial saving to tempt me away from my current dealer who is just so easy to deal with (West End at Broxburn btw!).

I think you'll be looking at low to mid 40's in normal use and obviously quite a bit less when towing (we get around 33 when towing a 900kg horse trailer + horse (400kg's?) + associated gubbins).

Mid 40's would be fine ... never had more than 30 towing 1300Kg with any of the vRSs.

The Yeti is a great towing car. I also hade a vRS TDI 170 before.

The Mpg is even lower than the vRS.

With our 1420 kg Solifer Artic the Mpg is betwen 31-33 Mpg at 80km/tim (50 Mph), at 5-gear ( with cruisecontrol most of the time)
