Warning lights on my 2004 Fabia vRS, the day after it's 100,000 mile service. What to do!?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My 2004 Fabia vRS had it's 100,000 mile service at a dealership (Murray's Newton Abbot, Devon) on Friday. Straight after this, I drove to Barmouth on the West Welsh coast (250 or so miles)and on switching the car on today, I'm getting warning lights on the dash. A flashing glow plug coil and the check engine sign lit continuously. I've had a look at this forum and cannot find too much that's definitive (but I have checked the brake lights and they do work!!).

I was just wondering what you guys advise I do?

So, my options are...

1, Drive as normal, and then go to a dealership when I get back home to have the diagnostic done.

2, Drive to a local garage (but I'd not know who to trust)

3, Drive to the nearest Skoda dealership and see if they can fit me in (might be some distance)

4, Call out the RAC

I was wondering what you guys reckoned, being so far away from home.

Thanks loads!!

John

RAC, at least they could read the fault codes and say if it's OK to drive it.

Thanks, advice taken, they should be with me by 8.15! Hire car tomorrow and towed back to Devon on Tuesday if I cannot drive it.

Thanks again!

Mine did this when I stupidly pulled a fuse out with the ignition on !

It cleared the lights itself after a few engine starts.

Have you gave the fuses a check ?

Sounds like the brake light switch is faulty, i have had them do this even though the lights still work.

I've just had the RAC out and apparently it's the engine speed sensor - the code from the machine P0726. The RAC man's now removed the error and the car seems fine.

Having read on here other issues people have reported about the same thing, I think I'm good just to drive on as normal, and if I get another light on, will see my local dealer when back home.

Thanks again for your help guys!

Sent you a PM with a local indy that I use, he is excellent. Personally I wouldn't be going back to Murray VW/Skoda
