No Idea what to set them to yet, need to do some reading. cant wait till monday now so I can fit them. Just hope 0A doesnt find them :p

I got them from here, but I dint pay that price lol, When I called them they were suprised at the price lol, I noticed that shortly after I ordered them the price went up by a fair bit lol. Got a good deal I think. :p

Ill see what theweather is like and Ill try take lots of pics. just hope the Welsh weather is good to me

I'd start on the softest damping setting all round. If that's just plain too soft, turn it up one click at a time all round until it starts feeling harsh, then go back 2.

Now, if you have too much understeer or oversteer, go up one click on the end you want to slide less.

Went passed the showroom last week,( not far from my mums) must pop in sometime

Ooooh, V3s - nice emoticon-0103-cool.gif

Yeah, as Ken says - setup is critical on these. I've known people nearly take them back off when a bad V3 setup tries to kill them

The setup of your coilovers will not affect over or understeer, that's determined by geometry*.

v3 are very flexible - the softest setting is very soft (softer than oe (and thats oe 4x4, which is much softer than vRS) ), whereas the hardest settings is rock hard. You could use v3's on a rally car.

tbh there's isn't much point in setting them too hard, as it only affects low speed handling.

Once the shocks start working at a pre-defined frequency, they revert to default damping rates (which is surprising soft (but works extremely well))

iirc I started two clicks from middle (default) setting, and then went to what I guess is 3/4 of full max stiffness.

This has been fine for 2+yrs, but now the roads are getting even more pothole filled I'm going back to middle setting for better wheel articulation

edit

unless you're a muppet and set the each coilover to a different setup, or different setup between front and rear

Very nice mate!!!! Yep she's going to kill you good luck! :giggle:

If you search the net there is a technique to setting them up!

I used it on mine but i cant remember where it was or what it was lol

Ill have a look see if i can find it!

It works on the rear mainly going round corners and stiffening them up untill the car starts skipping and then you back them off a few turns.

Then move to the front and stiffen them until the car wants to understeer and them back a few turns!

It was something like that anyway lol

But that is a track set up, not sure what you want it set up for?

But my car is basically neutural!

billy is soon to be changing residence, and in the near future can be contacted.......

..........via a medium, under the patio

Good luck billy

Hope Phil is gonna be ok!

Good luck to him.

The setup of your coilovers will not affect over or understeer, that's determined by geometry.

That's a good point as well. Best to have geometry setup to suit, once they're on emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Good luck with everything.... including survival ;)

For help with that, refer to this excellent plan:

For those of you contemplating that all important purchase for your prized set of wheels or a trip away with the lads but worried that SWMBO will pull in the reins then here is my 8 step plan satisfy your cravings and ultimate marital happiness

1. Go ahead and make the purchase whatever it may be, Koni FSD's & Eibach's, new TV, trip away etc. etc.

2. Keep it quiet for as long as possible (this keeps ear ache down to a minimum)

3. As and when the new purchase is about to be delivered or you are about to go on that trip with the lads, start dropping subtle hints.

4. SWMBO finds out about said purchase/up coming trip

5. All hell breaks loose (be prepared for a rocky ride for up to a week)

6. SWMBO calms down (but has still not forgiven you so tread carefully)

7. After around two weeks everything is back to normal.

8. Start planning the next purchase/trip

Job done emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Under the patio ......She'll have a job, it's got like engines and doors etc all over it lol

Another geo set up lol thats about 4 this year :giggle:

Lol oh yea, I am safe from the patio.

Its nearer 6 mate, unfortunatly it because the dumb s***s don't do it right. And due to the problem that I think was in my head every time I changed something to try sort it it needed setting up again.

Needless to say this time I am gonna be sure to get the right hight I want and then set it up so that will be it.

Billy

The setup of your coilovers will not affect over or understeer, that's determined by geometry unless you run different setup between front and rear

Which is exactly what I said, except in different words. Stiffening or softening spring, damper or ARB rates changes your handling, which is why you need to know where you're starting from, where you want to go, and what route you took to get there. Note in particular that I advocated getting an acceptable setup, then tuning carefully.
