Odd observation to do with sills

Featured Replies

Hold my hand up to being sad enough to notice something as mundane as mastic on the hanging seam on the sill, however when I collected the new Yeti I spotted that the finish along the sill was somehow different.

Just found a photo from the previous Monster that confirms this suspicion;

The old seam is heavily covered on both sides in a thick mastic almost filling the drain hole

New model has a much more washy stuff that barely covers anything, so thin it started to drip off before it had chance to dry :S

I blame 'cost cutting'. :(

Hi Tim

my old 1.2 was the same as your new one. looked like it was running off, not looked the new one to busy trying to get swnbo out of the driving seat :giggle: time to hide the keys again :p :giggle::punch:

Hi Tim,

I am not quite sure of the application process, but the insides of hollow sections are wax coated at the factory. Looks to me that the original coating may have been too viscous, running the risk of blocking the drain holes. The drain holes are important, so it could be an improved control of the wax coating application. VAG have a reputation of paying a lot of attention to this, so it is likely a better protection than before.
