Which Fuel filter

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Firstly I have to say Hayes Skoda Claction highly recommended... Just comp'd me some parking sensors on my octy VRS as a sorry for ESP problem after two weeks of ownership..

OK. Could somebody let me know which Fuel filter i need for an 07' Skoda Octavia 170 PD VRS Diesel. I have been told there are a few it may be and my searches of the forums have left me a little confused.

If I could have the part number, but also description as I intend at this point to get it from Auto store (halfords, wilco etc).

Any other recommendations / observations please, as I will be fitting it myself.

Cheers guys.

If you have a TPS centre nearby Id give them a ring as they have genuine VAG parts at afraction of the price.

but tps only deal with trade according to their website

I don't know if this applies to the PD170 also, but I found with the PD140 there is no definitive way of finding out what type of filter to buy other than physically looking at which filter the car has on already.

I was told even main dealers can't tell for certain from the VIN number, it could be any one of three possible ones.

On my 09 CR it depends on the filter housing, should say on the side of the filter outer housing "UFI" or other ones that will determine the filter you need AFAIK

Yes that's how I worked it out on mine.

Cheers for the responses. Seems I'll have to have a look. However, when I do how will I know what the one that I have is called. Will it say on it, or give a code which a shop would know. I assume "ufi" is the name of one??

Thanks again!

it'll either be M+H or UFI, if its UFI then you'll need 3C0 127 434 if its the M+H then i'm afraid theres another 3 to choose from, part number off the fuel filter housing will tell you in this case

1K0 127 400 E/C/J/K

I have checked my filter casing and it says:

3CO 127 400 C

UFI

55 142 02

However I can only online part for 3C0 127 434, as BOND007 said above. Is this the same filter??

Could someone just let me know when I walk into Halfords etc, what I need to ask for. Ie; If I say can I have a 3CO 127 400 C fuel filter. will I get that practiced auto monkey blank look????

Also I have noted that someone has suggested on another link that the bolts should be tightened to 5NM of torque. Is this necessary. I have no torque wrench's, just the heads for a boggo socket set.

cheers guys, this will hopefully be the last post before I extract my thumb to somewhere it can get a sun tan, and actually do it..

Blank monkey look in Halfords?....surely not :giggle:

3C0 127 400 C is the part number for the complete UFI metal filter housing, for just the corresponding replacement element the part number is 3C0 127 434.

ISTR that's the same one my PD140 uses and the only one of the VAG diesel filters that Halfords don't stock. In the end I got a genuine VAG one online for about half what Halfords would have charged for a pattern part.

ours are £15 inc the vat i'd like to know how much halfrauds charge

I changed mine yesterday just did the bolts up tight there should be a new "O" ring with the filter element fot the top of housing

note the old filter will be loaded/dripping with diesel when you take it out so have a bucket handy

Cheers for all the help guys, all done. There is no way I would wait until 60,000 mile as skoda have suggested for a fuel filter change. At 25,000 Miles it was black, there was a lot of particulate build up, and general gunk.

As a result MPG has gone up (only minor), and the fact I noticed this means it has had some impact. Also throttle response seems a bit punchier.

Nice...
