Service Offer

Featured Replies

Well I didn't know where else to post this for maximum impact, so mods feel free to move it, but as I have an Octy I thought I'd post it here first.

Skoda, on behalf on VWFS, are currently offering a 2 service deal for £299. I bought one from DM Keith a couple of weeks ago but the offer has now improved and, I think, gone national. I checked today about mine, when I over heard the service lady at Bradford going over it with another customer - and as luck would have it - my details hadn't been put on the computer yet so I was assured that I will get this new and improved deal.

Anyway - here is the deal - as far as I know

2 x Annual services

2 x MOT's

1st MOT protected up to the value of £700 on some parts inc perishable parts including things such as bulbs and wipers.

She didn't know the full ins and outs but I was told to look out for some paperwork in the post over the next few weeks.

The services can also be redeemed at any Skoda dealer

i just took out a 2 year service plan for £299, but no MOT's were included. 1 Service includes brake fluid if needed and filters etc. Not sure if this is a different plan.

service plan

Yep - similar deal i got Will...although MOTs were only half price.

Plus at the time i got £100 vouchers from Skoda too!!!

VW are doing a similar priced scheme as well as fixed servicing costs for brakes etc.

You can get service/repaired at VW as well ;)

Fooksake, I only took the other one out last week, and I had to fork out an extra 140 to get a bloody cv boot replaced to get through the MoT!

And now looking at the service book (which they didn't bother to complete first time round) they haven't even bothered to change the brake fluid or air filter. Hmmm.

Doesn't sound that hot to me i'm afraid unless it really does inc. MOTs. If that's the case look like you have a special deal as the standard Skoda offer does not include this. Better of going to an independent and getting a proper service done for less.

This deal is brand spanking new - and does include MOT's but the condition (I think) is that you can't take that straight away - only after 3 months has elapsed (why I don't know). I intially bought a service deal and didn't get any money off or free MOT's and it was only valid at DM Keith's. I asked about this on Monday. The woman at Bradford said that when I bought mine the deal was only for DM Keith's and was only for services. She then checked the computer and found my service deal was not on the system. She then rang Leeds where I had bought it to make sure that when they did put it on I get the VWFS one which is valid at any Skoda dealer and includes two free MOT's with the £700 MOT protection. The deal I thought was good anyway - a service inc brake fluid was £270; a standard service is over £100 so £299 for two services strikes me as good value. Now add two MOT's at £50 plus the protection and you're quids in I think.

I'll update once I get my paperwork through but dealers are getting commission for selling these from VWFS so they're worth asking about methinks.

Nice one Will - thanks for taking the time to explain the deal.

I think your summary makes it pretty clear its a winner

Well, the proof will be in the pudding so to speak but hopefully it's a winner!

I took out the original service deal in sept & my car is 300m off its 3rd service so i will see how this deal works when it goes in,the dealer didnt change the brake fluid at the 2nd service so i shall be insisting this gets done this time,my mot is due in aug so i will ask about mot offers.Im concerned about the *if required* on the service plan, looks like a get out clause to me,if ive paid for something then thats what i want doing. ;)

Yes, this is why I need to have a word about my recent service. According to my service book, brake fluid should be changed every 2yrs and air filter every 60k kilometres (iirc). As far as I can tell from the dealer entries, my car had its brake fluid last changed 3 yrs ago, and has NEVER had its air filter changed. I was expecting both of these to be picked up at the service but neither were, so need to have a chat I think.

Service is looking (even more) like money for old rope at the mo, almost every point is simply them looking at the car, but not actually doing anything...

It's a change of oil and a look round - you pay pay for the stamp I think!

My brake fluid was changed as it was due - but I did ask to make sure, and was included in the service deal. "If required" were my words - as in if your car doesn't need it it won't be done but if it does then it will - if you know what I mean.

How does this deal fit in with Variable Servicing Will?

Right, should be sorted now, called them this avy to query the brake fluid change, and they apologised and agreed it should've been done. Think the problem was that it should've actually been done last year at 4 yrs but it wasn't, so they didn't even think to check the history.

So car's booked in for next week to get it done. It'll be the third trip to the dealer for what should've been done in one day!

Just had an email from Skoda customer service too, asking me to give my experiences so far... <drums fingers on desk>

Anyway, back OT, new service deal looks v.good.

TBH - not a clue! Probably doesn't but I believe that you can change between two as and when

The old version of the deal was basically the fixed service minor+major/10+20k miles or single 20k miles variable service.

I am trying to find out more information regarding the op's service plan which includes 2 services and 2 MOT's. I have been on Skoda's and vwfs's websites and can find nothing. I tried calling my local dealer, All Electric in Kings Heath and all they offer is the 2 services for £299 without MOT's. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Seeing as my car is nearly 4 years old and apparently due both brake fluid, a cambelt change and an MOT, would this service deal cover ALL of this? If so, where do I sign?? :D

No, in the paperwork I've seen the cambelt change is specifically exempted.

Exclusions:

...

(xiv) Cambelt and drive belt.

Brake fluid change would be included though.

Ah, ok, thanks for the document. Thought it might be too good to be true...

Aye, given that it's a ~£3-400 job on its own they'd be shooting themselves in the foot somewhat to include it!

How does this deal fit in with Variable Servicing Will?

Usually they are fixed only. For some reason they dont seem to like variable regimes, even though it'd cost them less to honour!
