Is there much difference between the standard vRS alloy and the 16" Octavia vRS alloys?

Featured Replies

Hey all.

Just wondering is there much difference between these two alloys in terms of weight and what tyre the Occy is best run on?

Cheers,

J

If its the 16" Octy spiders, then the tyres would surely stay the same - 205/45/16

Are you asking what tyres octy should run, or fabia? If they are on a fabia then standard fabia size. As for weight, must be around the same as a standard fabia vrs wheel. Pastyboy would be best to answer this

if i had any standards i'd do a comparison and let you know; however all i have off the car are 4x 16" Octy Spiders in various stages of sanding ;)

I handled both types directly after each other when changing them at a couple of track days and i reckon the spider was lighter, although that was 18 months ago.

It also makes sense that it's going to be ligher due to the spindly-er spokes and larger airy spaces. There has to be more metal in a standard alloy :)

and as said about both alloys will be 205/45/16 tyres

Agree with Pasty - ever so slightly lighter...

Thats what im running :)

Fabia vrs alloy weighs 16.4k with tyre.

So if anyone knows the 16" octy alloy weight, we can compare.com.

If you weigh them, i've got a bare standard alloy here i can weigh as a comparison.

Only other thing to note, with the Octavia 16", is the offset is ET42, so they'll sit a little further in the arch.

Ooooooo.....watch that...goood point...but can be sorted with a new set of longer bolts and a set of hucentric spacers!!! B)

Which then adds weight !!

Yep, i was running 15mm-Front and 20mm-Rear spacers when i ran my 16" Spiders, looked just right.

meh, i bolted mine straight on in place of the standards and never noticed any difference

I was already running spacers, so that exaggerated the fact they were a higher offset when i put them on without them.

But as you say, some might not notice, on a straight swap.
