Standing Start technique in a stage 3 Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

I took the afternoon off work today as I had chance to play on a private bit of road.

So having not had a bash yet I did a few runs including this standing start:

Now I know I am not a driving god. Let's get that right out of the way first.

Clearly I need to improve and I feel I'm holding first gear too long.

So for those with experience of highly tweaked Fabia Diesels, any tips? :D

I'm playing with just under 270 bhp and just over 430 ft/lbs of Torque.

Over the summer I plan to get a bit of training if I get chance.

PS. Yes I got an average of over 60mpg out of it today having done 80 miles.

(well, according to the display anyway, so more like 55)

My god that thing shifts!

Damn that looks very quick,

Can't help much with standing start's, but with that power even if you fluff the start at the traffic light Grand Prix, your get em back before to long :giggle:

Try starting in second?

That is absolutely mental! Runs out of gears very quickly....

I think I only got into 4th before I had to slow down. :(

wow very impressive :o

jesus thats fast, thats got to be 0-60 in under 6s

Can you video the acceleration in 5th or 6th at 60mph, I'm sure it would get to 100mph very rapidly!

yip, my rough stopwatch was 5s36ms

Damn! That's a bit nippy isn't it :D

LOL at the jump from 30-40 mph. Insane mate. Sorry cant help with your request.

Holy crap thats mental

That's bloomin quick

start in third?? lol :giggle: havin seen the vids of jasons mongrel accelerating this looks quicker tbh

Not much wrong with either your technique or the car :D Looks to have good boost even at the top end

Man that looks fast. It looks FAR faster than Jason's accelerating videos too...

What tyres are you running? It puts the power down really well. I wonder how much of that is the LSD...

I think we should meet up for a play when I have my car back, we'll get a couple of videos for a comparison of 240-260bhp vs. whatever you're running!

I can't wait to go out in this.

I'm running Toyo T888 tyres, which is the only way (combined with the LSD) I can actually get the power down.

Although I could be wrong I believe Jason is using more regular tyres, which is probably where the difference is.

I got an example of my 30(ish) to 70 mph off the camera too.

shifts really well :)happy man i bet

this car is properly sick... would like to see how it compares to say........... a 2010 911 c4s 363bhp for 30-70mph dashes. i reckon it would take it.

with in gear punch like that.... you could stop virtually anyone overtaking you

Standard injectors?

Black smog trail?

2.Black smog trail?

1.Yes.

2.Not too much, I think the flowed head helps.

  • 3 weeks later...

You think it'll actually be faster without it?

Guess that means short shifting into 2nd then?
