Car Mats

Featured Replies

I have just wasted my time ordering a nice new set of premuim car mats for my Yeti from Unique/Car Mats4U which clearly states in their advert that they come with correct fixtures and fittings, only to find that when they come they have no way of fixing to the studs on the floor of the car, just a metal eyelet (2 of which had not even been swaged closed and were flopping around in the bag !!) with no fixing stoppers to fit through the holes and over the floor stud.

I am now sending these back for a complete refund.

I needed these for going away on holiday but bang goes that idea. Does anyone know of anywhere which actually does replacement mats which actually FIT the car and are made properly ?

The original Skoda rubber mats fit perfectly and are very practical.

Maybe but I hate rubber mats especially when they get wet !!!!

Have ordered some more now from another supplier who have the correct fixings for the car !!!!!

Sad to read your account. Did you mean Ultimate car mats or did you mean CarMats 4 U. Different companies.

I got a set of mats from CarMats4U and they were perfect and of a high quality. They fitted well and connected to the floor studs without problem.

I criticised the fact that the driver's mat did not have any heel reinforcement but they said it could be added if required.

I have had my set for 18 months. I would use them again.

There is no need for any fixing to the studs, the studs are "waisted" so the eyelets hold without any extra fittings. This makes for a flat surface on the mat.

My replacement mats are from Ultimate as they offer the same fittings as on my existing ones and the mats are thicker and have the reinforced heel bits, but the mats in question were indeed from CarMats4U but the eyelets (once I had put one together) rattled around like a fart in a barrel because they were way too big for the stud and any slight movement of your foot and up came the mat. All they needed was the correct stud that would not only hide the eyelet but also provide a flush fitting over the mat and secure it to the floor. Very dissapointed.

Good that there are different preferences. I prefer the wet to stay on top of the ruber mat, where you can wipe it off, rather than have it soak through a fabrich mat. I do agree that the rubber mats look a bit rural, but they stay the same rural for years.

Very true, and glad that Terf got a thumbs up with his mats, as with buying anything sometimes you get a bad one and it was my turn I guess.

I have the dealer fitted textile mats and they are great. There was a long discussion about 1 year ago on mats and I seem to remember somebody saying that you can pressure wash the textile mats, so that is what I went for. The fronts are fixed down, but the rears aren't, but they can't move anyway.

Very happy with them.

I agree 100% . I bought the dealer supplied Skoda textile mats and I'am very pleased with them - they

fit great and are easy to clean

P.S. I don't like rubber mats in a luxury car like the Yeti either !

Textile Matts for the Summer and Rubber for the winter.

I had OEM textile mats in my 4x4 Octavia & as they were only 6 months old I took them out with the intention of putting them in the 'new' Scout. That came with new OEM rubber mats. I think they are great, look good, clean easy & don't show the muck as much & certainly catch more from going over the edge to the carpet below. The textile ones are still awaiting a good home.

Rubber mats? textile mats? Remember the very first Range Rover?

it was designed so that you could hose out the interior after a day on the farm and then drive to the Ritz emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

I think that they are much better than the carpet mats and do not look at all down market. They are also considerably easier to keep looking smart.

Stop all this poncey talking about mats, when I was looking for a boot floor protector I was advised by a thrifty member to split a bin bag down middle and use that. Now then, if that's good enough for the boot why not cut it in to smaller pieces and use them as mats, you could change them at regular intervals and either have black or green depending on your interior colour. We southern folk can be just as careful/tight as them northerners :D

Bin bags !!! - They cost money - what's wrong with an empty sheep feed bag? - or as Mrs M does, a two day old newspaper to protect the rubber mat that is protecting her very posh velour carpets!! (Rav 4)

Me I have some nice fitted carpets (clipped over the fixings properly) supplied by the leasing company - with their name on of course - topped with a cheap £2 rubber matt I bought at a caravan show, when it's worn out I'll throw it away and buy another one.

It must be the weather! Lot'sa rain leads to animated discussion over bonnet latches and floor mats - ranging from monogrammed velour to bin liners and sheep feed bags.
