Clunky Coilovers

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

had coilovers for a few weeks now and happy with ride and handling but they are clunkey and noisey at low speeds - thought they would settle in but don't seem to be improving - cant see that anything is knocking but don't know --

anything I should be worried about or is this the norm for new coilovers - read somewhere that other also noticed some noise at lower speed

cheers

How much did you lower it?

What make are they?

If driveshaft was knocking wouldn't this also happen when stationary or am I being thick - only noise when travelling and seem worse when going slow

my Ibiza's on coilovers, not massively low but doesn't clunk

I think I have this same issue. Don't know much about this to be honest because I bought the car recently with coilovers already fitted (a month or so ago) Clunking when moving off slowly in 1st gear , seems like it's front left but not sure.

When the car is parked and I grab the wheel with two hands on the top of the tyre and push and pull I swear I can also hear a slight clunk.

Could this be: bushes? droplink? The coilover unit itself?

Getting my cuz to look at it on sunday (he's a mechanic)

Coil slap. My weitec had the same problem, you need some rubber sleves to go over the springs, drop Damian from DPM a pm I think he has a part number now to fix this
