Bonnet Vent + Catches

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a Fabia with a bonnet vent and/or catches? I really want a subtle small vent above the airbox and some bonnet catches to make it look subtly more track-worthy. Not to everyone's taste but I think it looks hard as nails. Can anyone think of a vent and catches that would suit it?

I wouldnt get pins as they look gash. If anything the pop out ones that sit flush on the bonnet

Just a small front facing scoop above the air box would look ace imho. Maybe just drop into a bodywork place and go for something custom

can i just ask out of interest why you want it above the airbox, you planning on running cone induction kit?

i said before in another bonnet vent thread u did awhile back coolest thing and least chavvy i seen was putting louves in the bonnet. could even put them in the wing and rig a custom air feed

just my thoughts on it

What I would do first is to do the arch pikey mod to both sides of the arch to create a lower pressure within the engine bay, then if thats not enough I would probably prefer the bonnet vents which sticks inwards rather than outwards (if one gets my drift) so it doesn't ruin the aero so much.

Having some louvres stamped/welded in the bonnet would look pretty good IMO

All the rage back in early 2000 but alot of people still have them.

www.coollouvres.co.uk did them but think they have gone bust by the look of the website !

thats who did my citroen ax gt looked a beast back in the day and went like a ****** lol

I really don't think the wheel arch vents can make much difference?

More holes to let air vent away is same as having more air ramming in, seems ok logic to me :D

Unless it's for a specific purpose (like extra SMIC cooling), sticking more air into the wheelarches isn't the thing to do. The wheelarch area is known for higher pressures and promotion of front end lift. This is a reason that high speed sports racers tend to have louvres in the wing tops or more elaborate vents and grilles to let air out.

You have to think of the system as a whole. Pretty much the only way most air will come out of the engine bay is down the tunnel and under the car. What you actually need is the least amount of air getting into the engine bay but doing the most work. For a track car though, doing work can also mean cooling down the brakes. Again though, the least amount of air doing the most work is the way to go. Duct from the bumper to the centre of the brake disk and try to optimise the trumpet size on the front bumper.

arch mod wont make a difference as basic common sense tells you hot air rises. the only real benefit to having a bonnet vent/louves is to allow hot air to escape quicker from the engine bay in theory this should bring temps down in the engine bay.

I decided I want something like the new Focus RS' vents...

Maybe just one on the right hand side but I quite like the idea of 2. Thoughts?

Could look good, but only one on a fabia

That's interesting, my aim to the statement was to create a lower pressure in the engine bay, thus giving better flow by having a lower differential between the front face of the car and engine bay, making that aero 'barrier' less?

I would have thought there would be lower pressure around the arch area than the engine bay, thus air would be pushed to the arches and away, especially at speed.

Also, would it really promote front end lift with only air from the engine bay which is pretty 'broken'? I can see it if you direct it into the arches from externally.

(sorry my aero terminology is pretty poor, lol)

Can't see a whole lot of air getting out through those vents tho lol

I want my bonnet to look something like AmD's Golf:

Think it would look OK?

Cant find an exact one Im thinking of but something along the lines of the link below to match the ones on the side of the front bumper.

Mitsubishi Evo 6 CARBON:ERA Bonnet, Vents & Duct

This also looks rather exciting..

Think mk1 fabias would look good with just one vent in the centre.

Gary next door to Ali is ace at fabrication and painting, I'm sure he can do something for you.

Cheers, that's not a bad shout...

I can vouch for his work too, made my fabia look like its suppose too after a bus drove into it  Top work
