Got a new DMF fitted

Featured Replies

Got a new DMF fitted to my DSG box yesterday as it sounded like a wee man with a big hammer was desperate to get out through the bell housing. Got it replaced by a compitent mechanic at a good price and the changes are smooth again and the rattle has stopped. This has now been replaced by another rattle which seems to come from immediately beside the alternator from what looks like a tensioner housing which seems to be resonating badly. Could this have occured when the engine/gearbox was moved when the dmf was replaced. And am I right that it is the tensioner and not the A/C compressor. As I am about to go to France in the car I need to know the car will not leave me stranded.

Iy will either be aux belt tensioner, sprague clutch on alternator, or aircon pump.
