Damn lock module problems

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever tried tp fix this damn thing?

It's the microswitch that tells the ccm when the drivers door is open. Mine wasn't actually telling the ccm anything and wasn't bringing the lights on when it was opened either.

Mine isn't working. Is there a microswitch I can buy in maplin to do the same job? The inards of mine are shafted and the plunger on the top is all worn away.

Looks like some sort of reed switch.

No it's definitely a microswitch. It's the main latch microswitch. There's supposed to be a little plunger sort of thing there on the top of it. But it's all worn away.

I don't really have to find the exact one. Just one that when clipped or screwed into the bracket will allow the cam style lock latch to touch the button. I think i'll take a run to maplin today and see what I can find. I should have taken the damn switch with me but I forgot.

Yeah I'd say Maplin is your best bet. Any time I've needed anything like this, I've just gone to the counter at the back of the shop and they've dug it up for me

Just back from Maplin. Their selection of switches was crap, but I got one anyway.

It was only about £2.50 so it's not a big gamble.

I'll try and get it all back together tonight and with any luck i'll be able to get it working again.

Try "Farnell in One" in the web B)

I thought I might as well keep this thread up to date so someone might find it useful.

The new switch (all tested and working)

Old switch cut off

So I needed a way of holding the new switch on the bracket of the lock module. Easier said than done. So here's a pic of the metal clip from the old one.

The metal clip holds the switch against the metal whilst 2 plastic studs on the old switch hold it in place. As the new switch had no plastic studs I needed to put some on it. So after a little bit of cutting I had the old switch sliced up and the plastic studs removed from it. JB weld should hold it on there. That's as far as I've got so far. I'm hoping it's stayed where I positioned it and it should sit perfectly where the old switch was.

First of all, my battery ran out so no pics.

Long story short - the fix worked perfectly and the door and locks are now fully operational. The switch fitted and the clip holds it in nice and solid. I also took the chance to change all the door card clips to the new style ones.
