Given that you've got to drop the sump, and therefore change the oil, in order to get at it, why not just fit a new one?

To me trying to clean a clogged oil pick up pipe is false economy. We all know the horror storys of those things, who is to say you won't end up clogging further by pushing the crud further in the pipe.

If you are going to the extent of taking sump off replace it.

To clean will also cost you the price of the cleaner anyway...

Er, the dealers.

NEVER clean out and re-fit a used strainer, the problem will come back as i found out.

it's false econ to not fit a new one £12 verses £1000+ for a new engine and turbo!!
