Na your alright mate, if I didn't like it I wouldn't have done it in the first place. It I wanted it where it was originally id be like every other sheep that follows each other and there wouldn't be a modifying scene. Each to there own!

It's a legal requirement so why mod it lol.

Don't want to get into an argument about legalities of modifications or not like the usual threads. It has an approved plate on, been stamped by an MOT test centre. Half the people on this site like to bend the law slightly or you wouldn't have a modifying scene at all. My car is fully insured, every mod declared.

I'm not on about mods just the number plate has to be on the front. Simples.

Yeah I understand mate. I'm not having a go. Its on the front and it's legal!

will have to have a look at that, I had a flip out plate on my previous car and it was perfect for shows.

My link

To the OP, I might be boring but I would go for picture 1 or something like CT17 which seats a bit lower, no jap style in my opinion as the car it's not an import or a jap model

where did you acquire this kit? Want!

That kit does look awesome and definately would be something different however looks like you may need to either loose the fogs or at least do some major work behind the bumper but obviously modifying isn't an issue. Infact could you apply the motorised plate idea to a standard-ish plate and get a slot put in above the lower grille so when deployed it would sit in roughly the same position as a normal plate.

this is what I was thinking. need to get the front of my car repaired as it is.

3/4 size sticker plate!

Looks by far better than any options you have went for

I never got stopped with mine and the one time i did they didnt bat an eyelid

For mot i just cable tied a full size plate to the grille, then cut it off when it passed

seems some what pointless to me as picture one looks the best as thats where it should be (there abouts) so it seems silly to take the recess away smooth it over and then struggle to find a place to put it. standards looks alot better IMO

I have to disagree. The standard mount surround looks something akin to the romper suite grey bumpers on early Ford KAs, yuck.

I like what the OP has done but for the issues with mounting the numberplate.

It is illegal (and renders your car's insurance invalid) having number plates with lettering that is smaller than 79mm tall. The third plate in the OP pictures and Big Jase's plate are both illegal.

had this very same issue with a civic of mine about 7/8 years ago.. my solution was get square plate, not bike sized one with full size (79mm tall) lettering and cut it down.. to about 2mm around the lettering, and side mounted. it passed about 4/5 mots like it, and the police round my way are a bit keen it pull over modified cars and used to get pulled about 3/4 times a week, and they never batted an eyelid. Yes the smooth bumper looks great and id love to have it done, but whats the point in removing the black plastic recess which is then covered by the number plate is my point mate. I was saying that all the picture optioned shown by the OP look rubbish in comparison to the original mounting point of the plate. If there was a good solution i.e putting an alfa plate recess on the side and mounting there then i think this would be a great mod, but i feel it some what a waste of time as it causes the hassle of where to put the plate. If possible i think the best place would be below where has been smoothed maybe cable tied (cant think of a better way) to the slats if it would fit flush and not looking down or up? this would be my choice but havent tested the sizing issues so wouldn't know really :)

Everything is illegal

I was stop checked twice by the rossers and nothing was said about the plate

Aslong as its not a silly font the police seem okay about it

Where do you find these nice police. Sounds like they must have some real crime to solve round your way, north Yorkshire they would do you for flicking some nose disposal out the window!

A-ha, so actually we agree - LOL.

If I was the OP, I'd stick a plate on with double sided tape above the intake. i.e. in more or less the standard position. Other option might be a couple of recessed nuts in the bumper to take screws.
