Fabia vRS 130 PD throttle hesitation

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have recently bought a 2006 Fabia vRS. Everything was fine until I recently noticed something it sometimes does when I accelerate: in a situation where I start pushing the throttle from the beginning (after changing gear or braking in a corner), it kind of hesitates for a second or so, even bumping a little bit during that second or two. Normally it happens in 3rd or 4th gear, but it could be that I notice it then because I use them more when I commute to work.

I have just come back from the local Skoda dealer for a service and I described this to them to have a look at. They have tested the car and said that they coudn't find anything wrong at all, and the guy has explained me that probably is the system (a hole somewhere) to mantain the emissions at the level they are for the car to be taxed lower. This has almost convinced me, but sometimes I feel this hesitation a bit too much to have done it on purpose and as I said before it greatly varies, sometimes it doesn´t do it at all, sometimes it does it big time.

I would appreciate any help you experts can give me or if any other vRS owner has experienced this.

Thanks a lot.

Albert

Hesitation, all the later models do it, unless they have had the " Fix " done, nothing to worry about. It's all about a gasket which keeps the engine Euro 4 compliant

Disclaimer:- " I Think "

Well worth doing, the hesitation was similar to yours when I first got mine so I got the EGR gasket done by my local VAG indie garage. A skoda dealer probably wouldn't be intrested or will fit the "compromise" size that apparently has little effect at solving the problem. However be aware that the 9mm gasket you can order probably will throw up an engine light (the exhaust system warning light) as the EGR values will be out of tolerance. It started doing it occasionally on my car, especially when on steady, quite slow cruise but it is now constantly on. There are rumours that any engine warning lights lit will be an MOT failure in the future? If so I'll switch the gasket back, or get all the EGR cleaned out.
