Finally got my new Superb

Featured Replies

After nearly 5 months wait, picked up my 1.8tsi DSG elegance estate from James at Allams last Thursday 18 June. Chose the right colour, steel grey, black interior with wood trim. Drove home from Epsom to Dorset, very smooth and recorded 40mpg on the MFI. This included 30 minute traffic jam on the M3. Drives well and fit and finish appears good and everything appears to work as you would expect although the drvers door open indicator light cover has fallen off and seems reluctant to stay on. Not to sure about DSG, generally very smooth but a little lumpy when trickling in traffic and appears to hunt between first and second at speeds under 10mph, also noticed this when reversing. Have others noticed this? Might be me, not that used to the car or perhaps because it is new. I have moved fron a BMW 525i auto estate with the traditional slushy 5 speed box and that seems smoother. I say I have moved from the BMW but I have still got it, hoping to sell it on soon. Unfortunately my new car feeling was rather screwed by a clown hitting the rear of the car, damaging the bumper, while it was parked in a Pub car park on Saturday night. Luckily someone witnessed the event and left a note on the windscreen giving details of the other vehicle, a Merc ML, and a search of the Pub found the guilty driver who thought he got away with it. Now awaiting instruction from his Insurance regarding repair. Hope this is not an omen.

My wife commented on the pronounced front seat swabs, on the edges, and wondered how comfortable the seats would be on a long journey and whether they would wear in this area? I would be interested in other owner views on this aspect and also what fuel consumption is being achieved?

Finally a big thanks to those who contributed to my early topics when I was choosing and specing the Car.

Pity about the bump. There's always a sickening feeling when a new car becomes less new and it's just as bad when you do it yourself. Glad you got the guilty party though insurance is never an easy matter to settle. It's interesting that you are an ex-BMW driver. I've come from a Honda (or will do when my new car comes) and I know of those who've moved happily from Mercedes, Audi .... It seems the traditional brand loyalties are breaking down. Which is no bad thng. And I'm pleased you like your car.

I moved from Toyota Avensis T3X Estate two months ago to a Superb S twindoor. It just gets better and better, and I keep finding little touches that Toyota dont offer. Almost embarrased to say I only found out yesterday, and by mistake at that, that my S has height and reach adjustable centre armrest. I was sure I read somewhere this was specced on SE and elegance only so hadnt looked for it. However it is in the manual so RTFM is useful.

I wondered about the high seat swab on moving from Toyota, but find them very comfortable. Not sure how they will wear as you say, but a workmate has a 2004 Octy and he says no problem.

Enjoy your car.

Congrats on your new car

I hope James got everything sorted for you and you are enjoying the WORST keyrings ever supplied by a car dealer!! (I complained to James on this down market item).

Sorry to hear about the damage to your new car  . Wife had this in her new Fiat 500, less then 100 miles on the clock and her first new car when some dozy cow drives into the back of her while she was stopped at a crossing :wall: . Other women said "Sorry I don't know what happened?"

Well you were not looking where you were going and hit the 500 simples! (If my wifes car was not there maybe she would have hit the school kids on the crossing :'( !!!!!!!)

All repaired and no one else would know but I do :nerd:

Enjoy your new car.

Did you get the 4 exhaust pipes like my V6 or is that only on the 2L?

SWMBO could be right about the seats. Mine are wearing badly after only 12,000 miles.

I have taken it up with Skoda UK as the dealer has refused to do a warranty job.

Be interesting to hear what SUK say about the seats Phil, although my Superb is not here yet 12000 miles is about 4-5 months driving for me.

Which seats is it that you have - full leather or SE spec ones?

I have around 23000 kms on the clock and still find the DSG a little hesitant, particularly in reverse. There is often a short pause before the car starts to move backwards which makes me very careful when reversing out of angle parking spots in my town. I've read here that the situation will improve over time but..........

The DSG hunting in traffic can be overcome by slipping it in Sport mode.

Thanks Tankdave.....I will give that a shot tomorrow!! Regards!!

This is what I think many of us DSG drivers do to stop the hunting round town, just try and remember to put it back to Drive when back on the dual carriageway or motorway as it will not go back to 7th gear unless you are in Drive or Tiptronic.

Mind you the gearing in the Octavia with the 7 speed DSG is way tall. 7 th gear is 29mph/1000 and I think it is still around 26 mph/1000 in 6th ie higher than our TSI VRS which is 25 mph/1000 so a very relaxed drive which helps economy. Currently doing around 39 mpg true ie 41 mpg on the computer.

Like the bigger tank in the Superb and the even more roon in the back as the kids are getting so tall now and complain about me having the seat right back. Would also be tempted if the updated the 3.6 litre DSG to the new 3.2 litre VAG engine, or even the 2.5 litre TSI though I gather the latest addition is to put the 200 hp TSI in ther Superb but then you have to go to the 6 speed DSG which is not so economical as the 7 speed. Enjoy!

They are leather. When I ordered my car the seats were described as full leather. Now Skoda call them partial leather and artificial leather.

Hi V6,

No only twin pipe on 1.8. Drove around 120 mls yesterday mainly on B roads in Dorset, returned 35mpg with 4 up. I actually travelled behind a Superb Estate 2.0 diesel around Charmouth on the A 35, waved but not sure he saw me, the first time I have seen another on the road. Miss the 6 pot BMW torgue a bit, but I am sure I will get use to 4 cylinders and performance should be about the same as my 525. Trying to decide between using an SD card or an MDI connection, what did you do? How you finding the car generally?

Regards

Hamro

We are moving from Audi A6 3.0 V6 TDI to Superb 2.0 TSI.....picking it up this Sat. Looking forward to it but hope the performance isnt too down on the Audi. Quad pipes sound cool though.
