Non-Main Dealer Skoda/VW Service in Leicester/Coventry?

Featured Replies

Gents,

My car is out of warranty and I'm looking for a good & cheap Skoda/VW garage to do a routine service on my Octavia vRS (74,000 miles). Can anyone recommend one in either Leicester or Coventry.

I'm not entirely against taking it to my dealer but I'm just a little wary on pricing (

If look on Honest John's I think you'll find he reports lots of cases of 20v VAG engines snapping their cam belts from 70k onwards.

Good luck with finding a garage. In my experience of such requests on boards you don't get much help. These garages either don't exist or more likely people are just unwilling to recommend for some reason or other. Adams and Sons on the A47 well west of Leicester at Morcott were a long standing Skoda dealer booted out 2/3 years ago. They now bill themselves as a Skoda specialist (as well as a Proton dealer). I have no experience of their workshop. I just use their forecourt when passing through.

Whilst 120K is the book figure for a cambelt change for the 1.8T, some argue that you should change it at 60K since, if it does break, the repair bill is likely to be eye-watering. The fact that your engine is tuned also is also good reason for playing it safe. So if I were in your shoes, I would get it done soon.
