FM Transmitter

Featured Replies

I've been happily using a cheapo Asda FM transmitter to listen to music on the car stereo from my MP3 player using an FM transmitter. Was wondering why my setting of 87.7 suddenly started getting loads of interference this week - lo and behold Wimbledon FM has started transmitting on that frequency. There's a plethora of pirate radio stations etc. bunging up pretty much the entire FM band. Any electronic types out there who can advise if it's possible to boost the transmission signal from the transmitter?

You'd have to be careful with that. Boost it to much and you'll effectively become a pirate radio station yourself...

You would never be able to boost it enough to "kill" a legit station.

I suppose its not the type to be able to change the frequency, but as you say they are cheap, so just get one that you can change,

The frequency can be changed (has a nice blue backlight which reminds me of VW MK4 Golf dash lighting :) ). I've now settled on 106.9 for the time being which is a bit clearer. Just a PITA having to retune it all the time.
