K & n air filter

Featured Replies

Hi!

Just a quick query?!

If I fit a performance air filter, such as the k&n 33-2888 to my '07 plate vrs petrol will the car need tuning afterwards?

Thank you for taking the time to read, and hopefully pass on some advice!

Dylan

If you mean a remap then no. I believe nothing else is needed with this modification to be honest. There is debate as to whether or not this mod is required at all.

Thanks Nicky boy, I will bear that in mind!

I fitted a pipercross panel filter to mine.....it does nothing!!

EVOMS and remap on the other hand. ;)

You don't need any tuning to the car for fitting a panel filter, but don't expect to notice any BIG difference performance wise.Just take the top off from your ail filter box take the old filter out and slip in the K&N one

Not on an 07, changing the filter's quite a faff, have to take the whole bloody engine cover off. Really stupid design. No wonder the manual only recommends changing it every 90k km.

Hi all!

Thanks for your much appreciated advice. Think I will wait and go for an induction kit when I get the car re-mapped. Won't be until September time, but I am sure it will be worth the wait!

Thanks again

Is there not a problem fitting oiled K & N style filters? I've been advised that the oil affects the MAF sensor.

It's a 'Long Life filter' isn't it. ;)

Having said that, I changed mine whilst on a Rolling Road and gained less that 1% (1.1 BHP) in performance (mk1 Furby vRS).

wait until you get the re-map. had mine done a few months ago by jkm,it's well worth it

Don't over do it with spraying the filter with oil.just a very light spraying over..

Hmmm.

Indeed!!

To save you repeating yourself - if you have the Tfsi engine, then the filter is housed in the engine cover making replacing it a pain, but no more than a 15 minute job. VAG obviously identified this as a stooopid design as they have changed it on the Tsi lump, which has the air box and engine cover seperate.

@OP - Something to note, a stage 1 remap does not require any other modification, once you enter stage 2 territory then you will require an intake or CAI and a replacement down pipe with either sports cat or decat. I am running stage 1 but have the EVOMS intake fitted in preparation for a down pipe and stage 2 software.

Below is the EVOMS fitted with replacement engine -
