drivers door not unlocking on key fob

Featured Replies

My 54 reg VRS decided today that it would not open the drivers door using the remote locking from the key fob. I have had an intermittent fault similar to this on the passenger side but always managed to work round that. The drivers door will not open no matter what I do with the key fob. It will mechanically unlock using the key or by going in through the passenger door and using the drivers door internal handle. Anyone any ideas on what it may be, servo, relay etc?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have just been talking to a local alarm fitting guy who says it is a common fault on VAG cars that a small vinyl clip breaks, but can only be bought as part of the locking motor assembly (please don't quote me on that, I may have the fact slightly wrong). Does this sound familiar to anybody? It is going down to the Skoda dealership tomorrow so they can see the problem and see if they agree with the alarm fitters comments.

I have a 03 fabia and it has the same problem ?have stripped the door down but can't see any problems or broken wires.it could be the comfort controller ?I think it is on top of the window motor.

Stripped the door down as far as I could yesterday and low and behold there is a broken plastic clip that can be seen but not got to unless you remove the riveted metal plate in the centre of the door. See what the dealers have to say tonight. Seems ridiculous that a small broken plastic clip causes so much bother and the fact it looks near impossible to get in to change it.

Thanks for the reply. Without wishing to sound a bit dim, what is the comfort controller?

I think it's the control unit for the central locking and other luxurys on the car ?.I think it is on top of the drivers door window motor?but might be wrong.

What was the outcome of your problem .

Did you manage to get this sorted? How easy/expensive was it? Mine has just stopped working took the door carrier off and just visible through the hole the pop up pin goes through is a broken piece of plastic.
