Having problems with my remote locking

I have an 02 ambiente estate that came with 2 keys.

Just changed both batteries.

Key 1 has always worked fine even after changing the battery.

Key 2 has never worked since I got the car 6 months ago although since changing the battery it does work 1 in ten or so clicks.

Any ideas or do I need to take it to someone with a vag.com? If so any recommend garages in the Exeter area?

I would think that as it does work every now and then and the other works all the time maybe that the key fob has gone faulty? I have seen this a couple of times.

I'd agree with Mike. The issue could be mechanical or electrical (switch contact bent so the transmitter never gets power as a rule, bent battery contact, faulty transmitter...)

Is it possible to buy the remote fob part of the key without the metal key part this is the standard non flip key?
