Oh Jeepers

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I think I have a minor problem that could become quite major before too long.

I have noticed over the last few months a light mist of engine oil being discharged from the joint between my stainless boost pipe (copyright of dovit industries...) and the 90 degree EGR pipe. I thought it was just a dicky hose or whatever (still to be sorted) but it seems it might be indicating a worse underlying problem.

The other night, I had the car up in the air for an oil change and various bits and pieces, and notices a fair amount of oil around my intercooler. I then looked up the back of the engine, to see a lovely trail of engine oil which seems to originate from the turbo :S

The car still drives just fine, with no 'boost leak' symptoms or funny noises, so just how big a problem do I have on my hands here? I don't know for sure how long it has been doing this for, it could have started anytime in the last 10,000 miles.

Cheers,

Andrew

Mines doing the same, but sadly I don't know how long its been doing it

I'm hoping it's nothing too serious...but it probably is, knowing my luck! :S

Bump, any techy people got any thoughts?

Do the ccv mod! Oil in intercooler is normal not overly much of course

Oil from turbo can only come from one of two places. Oil feed and return pipes, or turbo seals.

Will look into that!

Thanks. I sincerely hope it's the pipes...

The car is going into storage shortly as I'm off to sea for 3 months, so by the time I return I will have enough time and money to investigate this properly.

I'll take it as my bad for noticing it at silverburn :p
