Help reading fault codes please.

Featured Replies

Hi all, went to work today and the car was playing up big time! Fault code read it and got the following. Not quite sure how to diagnose it.

I thought it was a boost pipe under the inlet mani but the codes say differently. Any ideas?

16514 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: Malfunction in Circuit

P0130 - 35-00 - -

16684 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs

P0300 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

16687 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs

P0303 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

16688 - Cylinder 4: Misfire Detected

P0304 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Readiness: 0000 0000

TBH I thought it might be coil packs but it isn't that rough and its not the maf. Defo sounds like a boost leak though.

Once I get moving its fine but when I stop to missfires even stalled a few times when I was braking hard.

I filmed the engine end what I can hear. Will upload when I get the chance.

Cheers for any advice.

Try looking up a Ross Tech wiki. I would normally look and post the results but I'm on my phone so can't at the min

I did, I added the fault code reason. Will add the symptoms as well.

16687/P0303/000771 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

Possible Causes

Ignition system

Fuel injectors

Fuel pressure

Running out of fuel

EVAP canister purge valve

Evaporative emission system

Low compression

Base engine problems

Controle Module damaged

Special Notes

This feature search for engine misfire in a specific cylinder. Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression.

16684/P0300/000768 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

Possible Causes

Air Intake System leaking

Fuel Supply faulty

Injector(s) faulty

Ignition Cable(s) and/or Spark Plug(s) faulty

Ignition Coil(s) faulty

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18) stuck/open

Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check Misfire Recognition

Check Air Intake System

Check Fuel Supply

Check Injector(s) and Injector Sealing

Check Ignition Cable(s) and Spark Plug(s)

Check Ignition Coil(s)

Check Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve (N18)

Check Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)

Special Notes

This DTC indicates that one or multiple cylinders are misfiring, but the ECU fails to identify the cylinder.

16688/P0304/000772 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected

Possible Causes

Ignition system

Fuel injectors

Fuel pressure

Running out of fuel

EVAP canister purge valve

Evaporative emission system

Low compression

Base engine problems

Controle Module damaged

Special Notes

This feature search for engine misfire in a specific cylinder. Most of the time the cause for a misfire is a lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, or poor compression.

If you have the old black type coolant temp sensor change it for the revised green type. Sounds to me like you could have a fueling issue which can be caused by the ECU getting wrong signals from the CTS.

Our first move was to check the Coil packs. Unpluggin them didn't seem to make a difference so we pulled the sparks and they where quite rough, so going to get new ones as a start.

Changed the sparks and it didn't do anything.

I had oil on the sparks and packs. What Gasket do I need to replace to stop that one and what part number is it?
