Legal upgraded bulbs

Featured Replies

Had my Fabia for almost a week now and loving it. My only niggle is that the standard headlights are a bit dim.

I have had some Piaa bulbs before on another car but wondered if anyone else has tried these in a Fabia.

Any non Hid kit legal bulb suggestions welcomed.

(I will post pics and a thread soon on my own car)

Nightbreakers from Osram :)?

Do you have them fitted Confide?

we just had a test with 20 Legal headlight bulbs here in Germany from a big Car Magazin and the Bosch 90 + won by a small margin

The chart looked like that

#1 bosch 90 + 1530 Lumen

#2 Philips Extreme Vision H7

#3 Light Distribution GmbH White Hammer H7

#4 Osram Nightbreaker plus H7 1534 Lumen

The Osram had the highest Lumen but the Bosch had the highest Lightning distance , so i guess its up to you .

I found the same to be true on mine. Tried Osram Nightbreakers which helped. Biggest difference was Phillips Xtreme bulbs. Phillips are decent improvement for little cost.

Thanks all.

Going to get the Phillips as the Bosch ones seem impossible to find in the UK.

Will post results later.

Just another +1 for the philips bulbs got some in at the moment and they are a big improvement

You won't find the Bosch one's in the UK. If you wanted them you'll need to import them.

Phillips are the best

Have the philips in mine but were put in by the garage for me, pre pick up so never knew what the standard ones were like. Plus so far since Feb have done very little night driving !

All three main sets (fogs, dipped beam, main beam) of bulbs are either Phillips or Osram 90%+ bulbs!! Bloody good!! Also remember to wipe them with a bit of meths before fitting them and then dry wipe them and do not touch the glass!! B)

P.S. then upgade your side lights W5W fitment?? With the Philips "Blue vision".....these do not shine blue but white to match the 90%+ main bulbs!!! so you lose the yellow look!!! B)

Another vote for the Phillips, put them in my Octavia a couple of weeks after buying the car and they've been fantastic. On my second set now as they don't seem to last as long as standard bulbs, but I can live with £20 or so every 12 months...

I've ordered the Osram Nightbreaker plus bulbs for my vRS plus some of those Diadem indicator lamps that are almost clear but flash orange. Impressions and pics once I actually get the car!

yes i got the Diadem in mine . they look clear blue but still yellow while flashing .

well more red-yellow ish

I'd recommend Osram Nightbreaker Plus (90%) or Philips X-treme Power/Vision (80%%/100%). I wouldn't buy the old NightBreakers as they had a repretation of doing just that, breaking at night! I've got uprated bulbs on my car and you can definitely tell a difference.

From what I've seen, the Osram Diadems when off have a bluish coloour, which I'm not keen on. When I replaced mine I bought Philips Silver Visions. See this thread: You've been (de-) Tango'd!

I'd also recommend you buying the bulbs from PowerBulbs.com I've used them a few times and got great service from them. If you do a search, you may find a 10% discount code.

I wonder if the blue tinge will be visible with the black pack lights?

I used Powerbulbs for that lot. Very good service from them over the years.

+1

First mod I did to my car when I got it from the dealers 10yrs ago!!!! :giggle: Still in the original set..and much better looking than the bluish Osram Diadems!!! And I too get most of my stuff from Powerbulbs! B)

B*gger! I've just had a call from the dealer to tell me I have supplied him with the wrong bulbs for my vRS. I bought H4s as that is what the handbook states for non projector lights but he tells me the car actually takes H7 style lamps. Confused.
