Oh Balls!

That's the 1st thing the dealer told me about unlocking etc- never use the boot unlock. I always use the door buttons on the fabia

It happened to me in Italy, key on the parcel shelf in boot, and the spare one left home in Ireland. It was my wife fault, so I broke the back door quarter glass, it was tuff, drive all Europe with a piece of plastic on the door. Since then the key stay always in my pocket.

SWMBO did the same to me within 1 month of owning the octy - we were visiting my mother 80 miles away so had to phone her mother to pick up the spare and drive over to us.

I have used a long length of that plastic banding used to keep boxes together.

Get a cloth and flat blade screwdriver to open a small gap, put a sharp bend in the plastic and thread it through the gap and wiggle it near the door handle, try without swearing to hook it over the handle by manipulating the loose ends, once over pull tight and wiggle the other end down the door edge and pull twice to open or once if you have auto lock disabled

Got stranded a couple of years ago at a remote beach in Cornwall. Left keys in boot whilst stowing away some bodyboards in a Fiesta.

Eventually got hold of RAC. Guy came out inflated something between the door and jamb. Got out a thin steel tool with a hook on the end and popped the door handle inside.

I signed a disclaimer but there was no damage to the car. Only issue really was the wait as it got dark and cold with most of my clothes still in the car.

I was a bit confused by this as I wondered how this had worked on an Octavia with deadlocks but I see it was a Fiesta which makes sense, Roverside assistance broke in my Metro 1.1S in the same way after I let the dog out the back door and reached forward to lock the front door then rear door...oops.

If I'm opening the Octavia boot using the release on the remote I do it without taking the fob out of my pocket to avoid the chance of locking the keys in the car.
