Oh Balls!

Working late so have been staying over in the work flat, its not the nicest so haven't been sleeping well.

I woke at 7 and decided to give the car a clean. Went out to polish and remove some scratches so unlocked the car to get to the bits in the boot (you know what's coming next) and left the boot open. It then started to rain so I started to get bits together and close the boot. As soon as it shut it hit me that the key along with my watch were in there. Normally if I am at home its easy to pop in and get the other set, but I will now have to wait for my wife who was coming in tomorrow to see me to bring the spare set. Will finish of polishing as I at least have those bits with me, but feel like a right idiot

Do you have your mobile?

I have heard that if you do this you can access the car;

Phone your wife, put your mobile on loud speaker, get her to blip the central locking button a few times into the mic while you hold your phone to the lock - apparently this will unlock the car...............

Let me know if it works!!!!!! :wonder: :wonder:

Heard this before and tried it with my leon but didnt work, but i didnt have it on loud speaker.

ah you need it on loud speaker and while the other person is pressing the unlock button you thrust the phone at your car like you were unlocking it.

I did this the year before last at Waddington Airshow. Spare keys at home in Sheffield !

Well, a mixed bag of "yes it works" and "no it doesn't" but hey, what have you got to loose?!

Let me know the outcome! :wonder:

A brick through the window and rip out the rear seats.

You are about as likely to do this as you are to get in using a mobile phone on speaker.

the fob uses rf not audiable sound!

I feel your pain! I did the same last week but close to home fortunately so the mrs came to the rescue. I'd rather the boot stay unlocked after opening - can it be programmed that way?

Is it April 1st already?

Some great suggestions. All I can say is I am glad its parked in a secure area as I would be worried that you can see my keys and my watch in the boot. Car looks clean though so every cloud :giggle:

How did the car automatically lock itself?

You can just unlock the boot and then when you shut it, it locks again. I am glad I didn't put everything from my pockets in the car as I would have been screwed

sorry to hear this has happened to you I was just today freakishly talking about this with a mate at work and here you are in the exact boat we were pondering  But hey at least your not parked on a beech or something (an auntie of mine did that with a 2 week old Saab back in 90's tide wrecked car)

:o That's not good. I am very lucky mine will be locked up at the back of work surroundeded by houses and the flat I am in for the week overlooks the car

My father-in-law did this when he came to stay. Unfortunately he did it at Tesco's, so when the AA/RAC attended and couldn't get in without damaging the car. We had to do a 500+ mile trip to retrieve his spare keys from the Midlands!

I feel a lot better now thanks to all these horror stories. Thankfully I only ever do this when washing the car so its usually a short trip back into the house

Thanks guys

Now there's a shopping trip and a half..

Got stranded a couple of years ago at a remote beach in Cornwall. Left keys in boot whilst stowing away some bodyboards in a Fiesta.

Eventually got hold of RAC. Guy came out inflated something between the door and jamb. Got out a thin steel tool with a hook on the end and popped the door handle inside.

I signed a disclaimer but there was no damage to the car. Only issue really was the wait as it got dark and cold with most of my clothes still in the car.

I too admit to once owning a Fiesta........ someone found it overly easy to break into it by simply placing a flat screw driver in lock and turning it didn't damage lock at all just an old piece of FORD! 1991 Fiesta LX it was 11 years old at the time but they wrecked ignition barrel trying same screw driver in that lol ended up hot wiring it myself ..... kids eh?? usless! at least I gained a fairly good screw driver I still use today from it all :D prob worth more than the car tbh

My really old Nova was really easy to get into, just needed the plastic straps they use on boxes, make a loop and hook it over the locking pin

Wife came to see me today as I haven't seen her since Wednesday morning so was able to get into the car and finish cleaning the car. Got to love bumper care, makes all the difference

Moral, don't use the "just open the boot button". I never have so far.
