2.0 TDi 168 bhp/258 lbft

Featured Replies

Reported in news section of www.autocar.co.uk today to appear in Golf GT TDi later this year and to be a version of the TDi 140 PD with piezo injectors. This is the injector technology used in the new Audi 2.7 and 3.0 V6 TDi motors which run a 1600 bar common rail injection system and have had v.good press in the new A6 and facelifted A4.

Destined for the Octy II diesel VRs, I hope :D

This 170bhp TDI VRS is looking more and more likely :D

Also being used in the new Passat so i read somewhere.

I thought the new Audi V6 3.0 was a common rail (VW groups first) as opposed to the PD injector system they use at the moment. That being the case, surely the injectors are different.

The new Audi V6 TDi motors are common rail as is the older V8. The news item said the 168/258 is a version of the TDi 140 PD not that it is a PD motor. Isn't the PD kit all in the head/camshaft area making the changes much the same as the switch from the original TDi high pressure distributor pump to PD but the reverse if you see what I mean and substituting the low pressure PD pump with a high pressure common rail pump?
