Rear wiper washer

Featured Replies

I tried to use my rear washer wiper this morning but no water came out! I know I have washer fluid so it's not that!

Is there any common faults it could be? I know that some Fabias had a thing where the washer pipe came off and leaked into the boot!

Sometimes the washer jet gets blocked and just needs a needle to clean it. Either that or buy a new jet for a few pounds and see if it that works? Also as they are fan jets you ideally need to use the VAG screen wash as its thinner and prevents the jet from blocking.

Rear washer isn't a fan jet... it is probably blocked but equally the pipe may have come off or as happened to SWMBO's Golf the plastic pipe cracked inside the motor where it passes through to the jets and leaks all over the inside of the trim

If you're on level ground having tried it, and you can see no pool(s) of washer fluid under/around the car, it might well be an internal leak. Most likely places being inside the rear hatch (bit of pain to remove and refit) or around the spare wheel well. You should see some tell-tail signs in either location.

I had an issue on my first Octy2 similar to this, and it was inside the boot lid - fixed under warranty.

I had this problem on mine over the weekend. I took of the washer nozzle (it's located at the base of the wiper blade arm, pop off the cover - it should pivot, and then simply pull the nozzle straight out) and then tried the wash wipe and it spewed out a load of tarry looking soup untill it eventually it ran clear! Going to just buy a new nozzle in the local dealer soon and fit that, doubt it will be expensive.

Hope this helps,

Alan

Sorted it now i think, as above realy just took the nozzle off and tried it and a huge jet of water came out so the nozzel must be blocked!

Ive just blown a load of crap out of it and left it in some warm water to make sure its completly clear!

Thanks Guys/Girls

Glad it was found to be the easiest/cheapest resolution! emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I soaked my nozzle in some of the stuff you use to descale a kettle , it helped, but maybe a new nozzle better.

yeah, plus im guessing they are only pennies?!

Happens all the time - I clear mine by taking the nozzle off (very easy) and running a model making drill through the two holes.

Since using VW screen wash I find it happens a lot less.
