Is the VAT offer still on

Featured Replies

I've been trying lots of different car broker sites for buying a vRS and they all have decent discounts on the car, but they are still applying 20% VAT to the car. The Skoda site says the offer is on all purchases before Sept 2011 although when I use the "Build your car" feature on the Skoda website it didn't offer any VAT discount.

Eh?

I've been looking at the same, the Skoda website has never given the reduced price when you configure it yourself. Two dealers near me have quoted me on the vRS with 15% off VAT, which they have said will last until September. I have also been offered free 3 year servicing on the vRS if you take out a PCP finance package.

The 'No VAT' on Skodas website does not apply to the Fabia vRS as it is DSG, its only manual petrol Fabias which full into that offer.

Well thats what I was told by the dealer anyway......

It's not a complete VAT free deal now, it's 15%, which means they advertise that you only have to pay 5% of the VAT.

And no discounts are shown on the "build your own" section of the website as the discount is when you buy from a dealership.

The offer is shown as applying to retail sales.

Please note:

*Reduction equivalent to 15% VAT applied to original base price including factory fitted optional extras on all new retail orders subject to availability before 30th September 2011 excluding Yeti, Octavia 1.6 MPI, Octavia Scout and Superb diesels. VAT is still applicable and will appear on the invoice. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer. Available on all new retail orders subject to availability before 30th September 2011 excluding Octavia 1.6 MPI. Indemnities may be required. Subject to status. Available for over 18’s. Excludes the Channel Islands. Škoda Finance. Freepost Škoda Finance. Terms and conditions apply. Prices and specifications are accurate at time of print. Offers may be varied or withdrawn at anytime. Model shown varies from UK specification.

Seems the discount does apply to the vRS then. Sweet. Seems the broker sites aren't aware of the discount or more likely are trying one on.

I'll nip into the dealer this week, see what they can do. Was thinking of buying as a PCP deal anyway.

You should note, that you will still pay VAT, its just that Skoda give an automatic discount thats equivelent to 75% or the total VAT bill for the car.

Run your build through the online brokers, then take that as your baseline for your dealer, you don't want to pay more than that, including the online discount.

you might get a bit more than the 15% off by doing this.

If you are looking at certain stock petrol cars you can get the 20% VAT deal when combined with skoda finance, they have also introduced 0% finance on the same cars

Hmmm. I've been looking at broker4cars.co.uk for a few weeks to make the purchase - what I'm after is a vRS hatchback, only optionals being climate control and black alloys - and the price before any discount is £16,800. The broker site is offering a discount of £2483.60 with a total of £14,316.40 to pay. If I went to a Skoda dealer and got the VAT discount that would knock £2,520 off leaving £14,280 to cough up. Can't see any point in the broker to be honest.

How long do Skoda offer PCP over though? One thing the broker site had that did seem appealing was paying it off entirely in 4.5 years. Yes please.

Surely you could PCP it for three years with Skoda if you want to, then buy it on a few years finance after that if you decide to keep it.

Or just get a five year finance deal.

I've no idea what kind of finance deals Skoda offer, that part of the website is "in progress".

I'd speak to a dealer as they can throw in extra stuff like servicing in a PCP I believe.
