Fabia Monte Carlo steering wandering

Featured Replies

I have just taken delivery (June 25th) of a Fabia Monte Carlo 1.6tdi 105 , it’s a great car but has a tendency to for the steering to drift / wander to the left slightly if you don’t hold the steering wheel (not my normal style of driving) It won’t centre its self in a straight line needing a small amount of pressure to keep the steering wheel neutral . It is not just road camber causing this as it does it if you drive in the centre of the road (when its safe to do so) . I have checked tyre pressures and they are all spot on. The garage told me its due to the small chassis and large wheels but they offered me a drive in their demo Monte Carlo (same engine) and it did not do it. I accept cars can be affected by camber but all cars I have driven need significant camber to have any effect.

Have any other owners had this, is it something I just need to put up with, as it would be easily ignored, but it’s a brand new car.

Your help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Be wary of having the tracking checked at a main dealers, they usually stuff it up.
