Aerial issue

Featured Replies

Evening all,

got a problem with my FM reception:

Took aerial off a few days ago when fitting roofrack, and its stuffed up my FM reception on my radio. I've removed it in the past by unscrewing it and giving it a yank to remove. I did the same this time, but noticed a little more resistance than ususal. Upon re-attachment, my reception is now rubbish in comparison to before.

Any thoughts?

Had a quick look as to removing the whole unit, with mind to replacing with a 'fin' type, but looks like a headlining out job

These aerials are powered, but I'm not sure if they use the in line power adapter behind the head unit, or the PCB type under the aerial base on the roof. A VCDS scan will usually tell you if the aerial is at fault.

The code is:

1 Fault Found:

00856 - Radio Antenna

36-00 - Open Circuit

You can gain access to the aerial base, by carefully, lowering the headlining at the rear, where the tailgate is. Be careful, not to pull the lining down too far down, or it can get a bit out of shape.
