Which Tyre?

Featured Replies

I have had my two front tyres on now for 30,000 miles+ and am wondering whether to go for Barum Bravuris 2 or Hankook Kinergy Eco K425 as they are more budget than the Bridgestone tyres that are on now and hopefully in the winter they won't slip and slide in the snow. Any advise please?

never heard of that particular hankook, though they are a good manufactureer, the Barum Bravuris 2 has some good reviews.

Have a look at uniroyal rainsport 2 there good in the dry and very good in the wet and not to bad in the snow

Love Hankooks have the EvoV12s on the MK1 and they are good in all conditions, even managed fine in snow :)

Just giving you a heads up: if you get the winters we have here in Sweden (I heard you actually had proper winter last year!) then you'll actually need proper wintertires.

I don't really understand why you cheap out on 300-400 euro to get some budget-tires for winter... they are far superior summertires :o!

But that must be just me...

you are of course right... but for some reason this country doesn't seem to take to winter tyres, don't know why as they are miles better at anything less than 7 celcius... and I was looking at -16.9 last winter :o

We are finaly starting to take notice of them now. I think we have just been lucky up till recently that the gulf stream has always protected us from the worste of european weather.

This year however with the VRS I will be having winters. Given I already gone water skiing in a deep puddle.

You've been lucky for some time, but now you'll face winter like the rest off us x)!

I had -22 when I borrowed by dads Saab 9-3 last winter... a diesel. Guess how happy it was with starting in the morning?

Thanks for the replies. I went yesterday to the local tyres depot and the man looked at them and said you still have about 1,000 miles left on them (.020"). He said most people who come in, their tyres are well under 1.6mm and he gets about 2 a week where the wire is coming through the tread. I thought he wanted business not turn it away. I shall go back in another month or so....or may be go elsewhere.

He actually helped you save some money there, more wear on the old tires = less wear on the new ones =)!

I decided to order the Hankook Kinergy Eco K425 @£65 last night, if they last any where near the 32,000 miles the Bridgestone ER300 lasted I will be happy.
