What speakers

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know what size speakers are in front and back of Fabia Vrs.

Thanks in advance

6.5 inch components.

Any idea on the size of the tweeter in the A pillar?

Is there a passive crossover tucked away somewhere or do the headunits have component outputs?

There must be a crossover somewhere as I have just changed my head unit and there were only 8 cables on the back resulting in 4 speakers. But the car has 8 speakers.

Usually there is a small resistor/crossover fitted to either the back of the woofer or the tweeter though.

The standard speakers are really struggling with the new head unit so looks like they'll be getting changed next.

Out of curiosity, which HU are you using?

Is it working with MDI / PDC / Bluetooth (if you have the 2 last options)?

I bought a Pioneer AVH-3300BT.

It has a Parrot kit built into the head unit and comes with a Microphone. I've lost the MDI as a result and the car didnt have bluetooth which is the main reason I bought the head unit for the Parrot kit.

I must say though the sound quality is far better than the standard unit and It has a USB port on front along with SD slot.

I find the SD slot really handy has you can pick a 32GB for £28ish which saves you plugging in Ipod/Iphone and there are no cables.

I decided against the standard sat nav head unit as when I ordered it didn't do full postcodes etc. but the SD card slot was something I was looking forward to, especially as I'd previously invested in a couple of SD cards, so I opted for a bargain Transcend TS-RDP5K which I'll plug in to the MDI USB cable. It's just a shame I didn't get the Green/Black vRS to match. :)

the tweeters are stuck on the back of the a pillar and it looks like there is a capacitor on them. i can't find any separate crossover so i think the mids get full range, the higher frequencies just don't get expressed/outputted (can't think of another word) as it might be cut off by natural roll off.

the tweeters are about 1 inch in diameter. there's enough room behind the a pillar for wider tweeters, it's the depth u need to watch. if they don't fit u can make tweeter pods or modify the a pillars.

Thank you.

you're welcome

Here are my a pillars, just took these for you...

as you can see the tweeter is stuck in place, the a pillars come with tweeters already on.

that little yellow thing, is i guess the capacitor to protect the tweeter from lower frequencies, so there is no separae cross over.

there is foam around the plug thing

Anyone know what size speakers are in the back doors. Poitless chaging the front unless I do the backs also

Should be the same size as the fronts if memory serves me well.

I've changed all my speakers/tweeters plus installed an extra set at the back doors.

Am I right in thinking I can just swap out the speakers in the doors for better sound quality in my vRS?

The standard speakers are "components" so there's a chance you'd make it sound worse if you only swapped the door speakers. If you replaced the standard door speakers with good quality full range speakers and disconnected the A-pillar tweeters it might sound better but you will lose the staging benefit of having the tweeters up closer to your ears. Some enthusiasts would argue though that it's better to keep the tweeters closer to the mid/bass speakers. Good component speaker kits come with a way to mount the tweeters angled towards your ears, something you don't really get with the standard A-pillar mounted tweeters. Been a while since I was really into the ICE scene so I might be preaching old school advice. B)

Hi,

Out of intrest what speakers did you install and what do you think of the results?

Thanks

I installed a set of Hertz speakers and tweeters. http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/default_en.htm

Since I don't have and don't won't an amplifier and base box I chose a set that is ''sensitive'' enough to produce clear sound without the need of the later. (I will have to check which exact ones I got and let you know). Of course there are loads of other companies with great products - it is a matter how much you want to spend.

The difference was very clear compared to the Skoda speakers (which in my opinion for standard speakers are ok) Major difference made the installation of the back door speakers adding to the full experience.

It is a good investment in my opinion if you enjoy music all the time in the car.

P.S. I've paired the speaker set and tweeters with a Pioneer AVH-3300BT unit.

Yes I like my sound in the car so this is one of my "projects"

Im not going to rush for two reasons :-

1. Want to save up a decent budget

2. Want to make sure I do it right

Like 32K I don't want a bass box but am sure I can get excellent quality without it.

that Pioneer AVH-3300BT unit sure does look the biz, straight swap for original??

Yeah and easy job too - it is a great unit cause for people like me who didn't have the option to get a head unit with built in bluetooth it offers all I will ever need combined with a very responsive touch screen. One thing you should not get from Pioneer are the GPS modules. They are horrible. Much better options out there but when it comes to in car sound and video they can produce some great units for a great price in relation to the competition.

Ive also got the AVH-3300BT was a pretty esay fit but a little expensive the time you buy the steering wheel adaptor and headunit to adaptor lead, fasia, aerial convertor. But the sound quailty is far better than the standard unit and love the SD slot on it. 32gb card was only £26 also the built in Parrot works really well.

Ive got some vibe speaker in my old car which my father inlaw uses now I think I will take those out of there and fit into the Fabia possibly with an Amp. Give me a few and Ill let you know the results
